Hope, Horses & Kids Hope, Horses & Kids provides affordable access to horses for youth of all ages and abilities

HHK can tailor any program around the specific needs of a child, including special needs requiring dramatic assistance. Programs include a non-riding curriculum (safety, care and feeding, cleaning paddocks, grooming etc.), as well as longer, more academic-based structure that include horsemanship in three skill levels. There is also a planned vocational program that exposes kids to careers in the fields of veterinary science, horseshoeing, riding instruction, horse training and more.

We are incredibly honored to provide the Rancho Cielo Youth Campus teens access to animals and barnyard management.

Nathalia is a frequent visitor to the barn and especially loves spending time with the rabbits.

What a spectacular day with the Golden Circle of Champions kids in conjunction with the California Rodeo Salinas. This day means so much to us, to be able to provide a gathering space where families going through unimaginable challenges can come together in solidarity and support and kids can play, connect and be kids in a safe and joyful space.
We rode, we met the herd, we cleaned sheep pens, we clipped bunny nails, we fed cows, we bathed horses and we ate pizza and popsicles. Hearts 🟰full 💛

This Saturday marks our third year partnering with the California Rodeo Salinas and the Golden Circle of Champions for a family play day.

The Golden Circle directly supports kids and families battling pediatric cancer, and we’re thrilled to offer them a day of pony rides, games, barn animals, fun, and connection - a chance to come together and simply ‘be’.

We’re honored to be part of a day that brings a little more joy, connection, and magic to these incredible families. 💛

We currently have two homeschool groups up and running on Thursdays and Fridays. These sessions are tailored to the groups individual and collective needs. Kids will learn horsemanship, life skills (such as communication, confidence, personal skills, boundaries), barnyard management and even some riding thrown in.

We are a vendor with Ocean Grove and Yosemite, if you would like more information, or to come and watch a session please feel free to reach out to us.

What better way to learn than out in nature with animals?

Always happy to help! - Our herd guarantees we’ll never have a shortage of 💩 around here. These projects, alongside our composting efforts (more information on that soon) increase our sustainability endeavors.

This may look a little like trick riding, but often with our ASD clients we will have them ride backwards in the saddle.

Shifting the seat like this is a powerful tool for sensory regulation, it challenges their balance, and how they process sensory input from the movement. It helps improve core response and builds body awareness and also reduces visual overload and helps calm the nervous system.

If you’d like more information about our adaptive riding program please reach out via our website or a DM.

🌻 The morning after the night before and we are still reeling with gratitude for the love and support our Hootenanny guests showed us last night. Thank you to each and every one of you who sponsored our event, showed up, learned about our mission, laughed at our stories and left with a full heart - we certainly did! 🙏🏻🤎
