Week 2 Day 2 and phew it was a busy one. Did you know kids helping kids is our jam? We love teaching confidence and leadership skills in youth and there’s no better way to do it than through connection with kids and horses.
Today we learned how to lead big horses by playing roll the dice, this afternoon was a classic Horse Powered Reading®️ escape room followed by some vaulting barrel practice.
Hope, Horses & Kids
Hope, Horses & Kids provides affordable access to horses for youth of all ages and abilities
HHK can tailor any program around the specific needs of a child, including special needs requiring dramatic assistance. Programs include a non-riding curriculum (safety, care and feeding, cleaning paddocks, grooming etc.), as well as longer, more academic-based structure that include horsemanship in three skill levels. There is also a planned vocational program that exposes kids to careers in the fields of veterinary science, horseshoeing, riding instruction, horse training and more.

📣New Summer Camp Alert 🔔
The camp for the week of July 6th - 10th will be dedicated for our clients with neurodivergence.
We believe every child deserves a place where they feel seen, celebrated, and free to be exactly who they are. Through horses, connection, movement, creativity, and play, we create opportunities for neurodivergent youth to build confidence, friendships, emotional awareness, and trust in themselves.
We view personal differences, sensitivity, curiosity, imagination, determination, and unique perspectives as superpowers 💥 and create a safe space for children to express themseves exactly as they are and every child feels welcomed 💛 🐴

We truly appreciate the support we receive from the community, without you we could not continue to do what we do, which is helping youth in the community have affordable access to animals, nature and equine assisted learning activities among much, much more. Thank you and we hope to see you there! 💃🏼
Our final day of our first camp of the summer and it went out with a bang 💥. We started with Shipwrecked, this is a true Equine Assisted Learning activity that needs teamwork to get it done which ended up being a huge challenge for this group of kids, but they all rose up and nailed it 🎯.
We finished the day with some much anticipated forging with Greg Deaton from Off Grid Anvil. The feeling in the forge when the fire is going and the hammers are clanging is palpable, the kids always surprise us with their hyper focus and utter enjoyment of physical creativity. This is such a cool activity and we are so thankful to have a forge on property!

Our penultimate day of camp and it’s flown by! Today was a Horse Powered Reading®️ fave - word herds, barnyard animals were cleaned, Ellie the pot belly got a new watering hole, and finished off a warm summer day with some time in the saddle. Perfection.
Check our website for future camp availability, and a reminder that our superhero camp is available for those who feel a full day at the barn is just too much- it’s open to ages 3+
Day 3 of camp started with a bang 💥 with ranch ninja warrior. This is such an excellent activity for building motor skills, body awareness and strength while learning all the tasks that need to be done on a daily basis on a ranch, not to mention it’s super fun!! We then had some time out of the heat visiting the animals before diving into a Horse Powered Reading®️activity called Story Cubes. Another fun one in the books 📚
Day 2 of camp and it was jam packed with a variety of activities. We started with roll the dice, groomed some goats, did some cross country obstacles, communication painting a horse, and ended with a cult fave - musical hula hoops with the barnyard animals. In true HHK style we talked lots about life skills such as perseverance, patience, communication, connection and teamwork. These kids are rocking it 🤘🏻
