We’ve Got News! We’re Giving YOU the Inside Scoop About Something We Think You’ll LOVE!

We are so excited to once again be hosting two new cohorts of It Takes a Herd at Lazy J Ranch! Our first cohort began this past Thursday, and our second cohort will kick off on June 6th.

It fills our hearts to collaborate with the It Takes a Herd Foundation and continue bringing meaningful opportunities to our community. It Takes a Herd is a dementia-friendly equine-assisted program designed for individuals living with memory loss and their care partners. Through time spent with horses, hands-on activities, gentle interactions, and shared experiences, participants have the opportunity to build connections, spark memories, reduce isolation, and simply enjoy meaningful moments together in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Participants also enjoyed some special visits from our ranch family — Hope and Marley, our ranch dogs, and of course Bad Barbs the goat, who always seems to bring smiles, laughter, and a little extra personality wherever she goes. ❤️

Programs like these remind us that connection comes in many forms, and sometimes the most powerful moments happen quietly — beside a horse, sharing a smile, a story, or simply being present together. We’re honored to be part of creating those moments and grateful for the opportunity to support participants and families through these experiences.

There’s something incredibly special about people who give their time, talents, and heart to help others. 💙

A huge thank you to Gerry from Strongwater for volunteering his time and craftsmanship to build these beautiful Halter Huts for 2 of our paddocks! These huts will help keep our halters, bug spray, and supplies organized and easily accessible for both horses and staff.

Volunteer work like this makes such a difference here at Lazy J Ranch and Horses Healing Hearts. It is more than just building something it is supporting our horses, our programs, and the people who benefit from them every single day.

We are so grateful for community members who believe in what we do and are willing to lend a helping hand. Acts of kindness like this remind us how powerful a supportive community can be. 🐴✨
