In 1972, President Richard Nixon signed a proclamation declaring October 6 as National Coaches Day citing that the coaches are similar to good friends who help the youths to acquire a positive attitude which will be useful in the later time of life.

He also encouraged activities and ceremonies honoring coaches. You can celebrate National Coaches day by gathering your teammates and classmates and showing your coaches how much you appreciate all they do.
