Summer walking is beginning.
I loved these foot photos which were in a sports shoe shop. It’s amazing what big business sports shoes has become. Each company has its reason why the shoes they make are better than the other brands. When people ask me what shoes I recommend I tell them none. There is no shoe that is your answer to foot care. You need to mix up the types of shoes you wear and learn how to take care of your own feet.
If you can learn how to walk from your heels through your outside foot and roll through your entire ball of foot and toes from your pinky toe to the big toe, you will be activating each part of your feet. You can practice this like a walking meditation.
Once this comes easy for you try walking from your heel through the entire ball of foot to the toes. Practice rolling through your ball of the foot. This will make you walk lightly and with a bounce walking up! It will also take pressure out of the knees.

To help you start this week with some spring in your step, try making each step a mindful one today. Instead of thinking of other things when you walk, meditate on the wonder that is the human foot, how it works and carries you through life. Try imaging and feeling the elastic force in the arch of your foot with each step, and see if that helps your gait. And if you want to deepen this practice - check out our webinar replay "Fit Feet".
