some of us hiked/pushed up Repack to the top, many more came across from the road to greet us...
we all rode down and ended up at the Marin Museum of Bicycling for the Grand Opening of the Kluckin' Tamalpais, Repack Racing Exhibit and BBQ and beverages...fun was had by all...

as always, this bike has been completely overhauled, the rear end was aligned and the fork trued as well...
and all LKM bikes are "hands free" riders if you can ride hands free...
nice 80's old school alloy wheelset with UKAI copy rare Belgian made Weinmann rims, rear Shimano coaster hub, and a Ross Bicycles front hub, so we are guessin' these came on a Ross cruiser and were sitting for decades waiting to ride again...

the LKM swing shift was rollin' hard with Joe to complete the upcoming "Klunkin' Tamalpais, Racing Repack" Exhibit at the Marin Museum of Bicycling as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1st Downhill Mountain Bike Race nearby, and the birth of a sport...

we had just completed about 95% of the set-up, it was midnight and the shift change whistle was about to blow...
other features include bikes ridden by many locals/legends in the day, Pete Barrett's Repack artwork, the Repack map drawn by Joe, Wende Cragg's Excelsior applique, wall o' Sprockets, Schwinn ad posters from pre-WWII, and more...
Charlie Kelly was responsible for the Repack Downhill Races and started that party...

in the rafters at the Marin Museum of Bicycling the other day, we got Joe's (Breeze, curator) #1938 Schwinn Model C down for the upcoming exhibit "Klunkin' Tamalpais, Repack Racing"...it is the bike Joe rode in the mid 1970's and shown in the iconic photo along with others from Wende Cragg featured in the museum and her book Camera Corner...
the exhibit should be live in a week or 2 and running thru the end of the year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Repack Downhill and the Mountain Bike History...

too many NOS and NEW parts to list, handbuilt wheels with NOS rims and front hub, period parts from the 70s and early 80s, WTB grips and saddle...

look close at the front door, test rode the latest LKM late 1970's Mt.Tam Tribute Klunker build to Marin Museum of Bicycling to arraign the coming "Klunkin' Tamalpais, Racing Repack" exhibit that will run thru the end of the year...
looks like 8 will be from the LKM achieves plus another 4 that were here in the 70's and part of the evolution of the Mountain Bike...
the first display bike belonged to Eric Fletcher and can be seen in the Jan. 1979 SF KPIX 5 Evening Magazine story about Repack/Klunkin' and what the heck was happening "over there" in Marin...at minute 5:12 you can see this bike at Camera Corner on YouTube, Klunkin' -1979- Evening Magazine...
this footage and more was used by Billy Savage in the making of the Klunkerz Film released in 2006, also available to watch on Prime...

SALE PENDING- #1966 Schwinn Tiger with the iconic Coppertone (1963-1968) sweet original factory paint on this 60 year old tamBomber, cruiser, klunker...this is the last year the Tiger middleweight model was offered, and in Coppertone...the Panther was the last painted Coppertone of the middleweights...
completely rebuilt as usual, but with alloy wheels built with Alex 303 rims NLA (no longer available, since covid) with stainless spokes, front wheel handbuilt with a NOS (new old stock) heavy duty chrome steel hub...NOS Mag sprocket drives the ride...
rebuilds always include fork and rear end frame alignment, all bikes ride "no hands" that you see here...
