2026-2027 Seasons start NOW with our Golden Bears Summer Strength & Conditioning Program, starting June 8th!

Strength, speed and quickness will be our focus this summer, don't get left behind!!!

The End of Year festivities are in full swing! Today the senior class took on the mighty Edison Faculty and Staff on the basketball court. The seniors took the lead briefly in the 3rd quarter, but with a steady attack from our teachers and staff, especially our very own soccer coach Coach "Wemby" Flautt, the Edison Faculty and Staff pulled out the win 61-50! The staff move to 26-1 all time with 17 straight wins (though the game was not played in 2020).

Golden Bear Nation, we have a senior student-athlete that has earned a spot on the 2026 San Antonio Area Senior Salute Baseball All-Star Game. Javier Herrera will be playing in the game on Wednesday May 20th at Wolff Stadium at 7pm. Please come out and support this young man as he will be wearing the Edison Golden Bear uniform one last time.

About six years ago, Coach Jessie Monreal started a special tradition at the end of the school year when his football players provided a sit-down lunch for the Edison teachers and staff. The players would seat the teachers, take their orders, and wait on them during their meal. It was a simple gesture, but one filled with gratitude and respect.

A few years later, the Golden Bears boys and girls athletic programs came together and continued that tradition by providing a meal for the teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. It gives our athletes the opportunity to give back in a small but meaningful way to the teachers who have given so much of themselves to their students.

Thank you to Mike Padilla, Class of 1989 alumni, for buying and cooking the delicious pulled pork that helped make the sandwiches for today’s Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. Your generosity and support helped make this event special for our teachers and staff, and we are truly grateful for your continued dedication to Edison High School and the Golden Bear family.

It has become one of my favorite days of the school year—to see our teachers relax, be treated kindly and with respect, and for our athletes to have the chance to simply say thank you. It serves as a reminder that what we do is bigger than sports—it is about service, appreciation, and building a stronger school community.

HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!

We want to send a special congratulations to our two track Regional Qualifiers who finished their season on an awesome note this weekend at the Region 4 UIL Track & Field Meet at Heroes Stadium.

Dayron Damian finished 15th overall in the region with a throw of 44 ft 9 in., but threw a huge personal best of 47’2 in his qualifying journey. He is the first Edison shot putter to throw over 46' in at least a decade!

Maria Munoz finished 4th overall with a PR throw of 127' 3" in the discus. Maria was only ONE INCH SHORT of the school record and was less than 3 feet from the State Meet.

Wow, what a finish! These accomplishments were a reflection of countless hours of hard work, determination, and commitment. We are extremely proud of both of you, and thankful for the way you represented the EDISON GOLDEN BEARS !!

Good luck to seniors Maria Munoz and Dayron Damian today as they throw at the Regional Championship track meet at Heroes Stadium! After yesterday's inclement weather and a few times changes, Dayron will throw the shot put today at 9:30am, and Maria will throw the discus at 2:30pm. Top two throwers in the event advance to the State meet! Let's go Bears!
