I miss you all!!
I hope you are taking care of your mind, body, and soul. 🧠💪💚
I’m thinking I need a little holiday buster challenge to get me through the week...
Any takers? 10 per day?
This coming week will be different for all of us and difficult for many. Remember that good sleep, staying active, and staying fed and hydrated are important for mental health. Don't hesitate to reach out to prevent loneliness and when possible check in with neighbors, friends and family, virtually of course. Take care of yourselves and each other.

I am sorry to report that this will be my last post. I am moving to attend school at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Fitness in the Park has been such an important part of my life for the past 7 years. I will miss y’all. I have already been missing y’all for a few months. You inspired me to continue through multiple good and bad life changes. Stay healthy and safe!
Remember, the path to mental and physical health doesn’t look the same year after year. It is always changing. No matter what those changes include, your path to health should not be marked by deprivation, discomfort, or perfection. Busy schedules, strenuous workouts, and strict diets are unsustainable distractions. Your path to health should be marked by peace. To find peace, you have to accept your body. Listen to it, and trust what it’s telling you.

We have all noticed more people outdoors during this pandemic.
However, trails are crowded and streets aren't safe.
Trail use is up 40% on Museum Reach, 50% on Leon Creek Trail, and 59% on the Mission Reach compared to the same time last year.
Although vehicle crashes are down 45% in San Antonio compared to the same time last year, pedestrians fatalities are up 150%.
With vehicle travel at an unprecedented low, we need city leaders to reallocate street space for people walking/biking to make being physically active outdoors a safe and easy choice during the coronavirus outbreak.

City parks, except for walking/running/biking trails, are closed on Saturday and Sunday of Easter weekend.

It is vital to maintain social distancing when outdoors.
Closing trails during pandemic, without opening streets, is misguided and inequitable
If the closures are going remain in effect, the mayor should at least follow New York’s lead by creating more space for safe, socially-distanced recreation elsewhere.

Trails and dog parks ARE still open.
