🏆 Men’s City Championship 🏆
This weekend golfers in San Antonio gathered at Olmos Basin Golf Course - Est. 1963 to see how their game stacked up against the city’s best. We saw it all from a wire-to-wire champion to a new course record being set on the final round of play⛳️
University of Houston commit, Matt Pawly, has had himself quite a run at SAGA championships recently. Pawly came in 2nd place just a few weeks ago at the City Junior and walks away this week as the Men’s City Champion!🥇Pawly posted scores of 68, 33 (round shortened due to weather) and 68 to close out the tournament.👏🏻
Rafael Abad was at the top of the leaderboard all tournament long. His game was consistently solid throughout. With 11 birdies and only 4 bogeys thru 45 holes, he claims the title of our LOW Mid-Amateur!
Starting the final round in a T20 position, Daniel Jones’ course record setting round of 64(-8) propelled him up 20 spots to secure a 3rd place finish 🥉👏🏻He wasn’t pleased with his performance in the first round so immediately after spent three hours at the range. Clearly his hard work paid off!⛳️🏌🏼♂️
Thank you to Alamo City Golf Trail for being great hosts and getting the course in such great shape! We would also like to thank San Antonio Golf Association Rules of Golf Group for your hard work and dedication to the game of golf!

🏆 City Junior Championship 🏆
What a great 3 rounds of Junior golf in San Antonio! These kids came out and walked 3 rounds of golf in this Texas heat and gave it their all!
We had 2 juniors defend their title, 2 First Tee - Greater San Antonio participants win their division, and a first time winner of the city championship!
Boys 15-18 Division
Back-2-back champion, Jackson Hymer came out and made it look easy! The future Baylor Bear golfer carded 65s all 3 rounds with 21 birdies and only 2 bogeys all weekend! 👀 Right behind him was Matt Pawly who finished all 3 rounds under par and Ryan Griff who finished at -8 for the 3 days!
Girls 15-18 Division
First time city champ, Quinn Timmerman came out on top🥇with rounds of 79, 71 and 81 winning by 14 strokes! The fight for 2nd & 3rd was a lot closer- it was anyone’s to take. Syler Schones gets🥈 and June Gnam rounds out the top 3!🥉
Boys 12-14 Division
Israel “Izzy” Garcia had a strong showing all 3 days. Runner up, Cameron Kimbell put some pressure on him during the final round, but Izzy held on to win! Kimbell had a memorable finish to Round 1 by making his first Hole-in-One on #18 at Brackenridge Park with an 8 iron from 138 yards!! 🎯 Charlie Percy’s second round 70, helped him secure his 3rd place finish! 🥉
Girls 12-14 Division
Jessie Lee defended her 2023 title with 3 solid rounds in the 70s👏🏻 Chandler Simons was 1 stroke behind her going into the final round but Lee was able to pull away. Medina Valley golfer, Allison Trevino, claims 3rd place finishing +29.
A huge thank you to our host for the first 2 rounds, Brackenridge Park Golf Course - Est. 1916 and also to San Antonio Country Club for hosting our final round! These players got to experience two of San Antonio’s most historical golf courses! ⛳️

🏆 Men’s Senior & Super-Senior Championship🏆
A huge congratulations to Genaro Davila for winning the Senior Championship & Dave Moore for winning the Super-Senior division!!
Davila finished all 3 rounds under par with rounds of 68, 68, & 70! The Back-to-Back Senior champion was one shot behind the leader, Tom Immenschuh, standing on the 18th tee. With the flag just 7 paces from the front edge, Davilas tee shot came up short of the green just past the creek with a very difficult chip shot ahead. With Immenschuh on the green with a long putt for birdie, Davila had to hit a near perfect shot and he did just that! He holed it from off the green for birdie to win by 1 stroke as Immenschuh bogeyed the hole!!
Dave Moore mentioned that he struggled to get the speed of the greens all weekend. But when you hit as many fairways and greens in regulation as he did, he could afford to not have his A game on the greens. Herb Fisher and Michael Weinnig put up a great fight till the end but came up just short as they tied for 2nd place.
⛳️ Thank you to Alamo City Golf Trail & Brackenridge Park Golf Course - Est. 1916 for being tremendous hosts!! ⛳️
