Do you enjoy the beauty and solitude of a mountain stream? Do you smile thinking about that two inch sun fish that you caught in a warm water river?

Do you enjoy the trill of casting to a tailing redfish in the Laguna Madre? Do you care enough to pick up someone else’s trash? And do you enjoy fishing enough to revive that fish and put it back in the water for the next guy? Then you know who we are – you are about us. Alamo Fly Fishers was formed by a group of people who love fishing and enjoy the additional thrill of fly fishing. We are enthus

Huge week for fly fishing in San Antonio this week! We are kicking it off with our meeting on Thursday the 16th at Alamo Anglers fly shop. Meeting will start at 6:30pm and we will have snacks and refreshments. KC Williams will be talking about fly fishing Padre Island National Seashore. He will talk about reading the beach, gear selection, species, conservation, shipwrecks, smugglers and sharks. I know I say this about every presentation, but this is one you won’t want to miss!

Alamo Anglers Will be having a Skiff Day on Saturday the 18th! Showcasing fly fishing rigs and skiffs! I know that Brian Little will be there showcasing the Sabine Skiff and talking about skiff selection for the Texas Coast.

Brian Little will also be at Alamo Anglers Friday Night from 5pm-7pm for a pre-skiff day event!

San Antonio River Authority is also hosting their River Rodeo fishing tournament. This is an online tournament that runs from now till May 31st. Visit their website for more details!

Lastly, I wanted to talk about our upcoming Bud Priddy Memorial Tournament. It will take place May 2nd in Camp Wood, Tx. This will be similar to last year. It will be a one fly tournament, so fish one fly until you lose it or it falls apart. You can continue to fish after but only fish caught on that one fly will be counted toward the tournament. We will have lunch and give out prizes. I will send sign-ups out soon.

This weekend is packed full of great fishing events in the New Braunfels area! Starting us off is the Fly Fishing Film Tour at Gruene Outfitters Friday night starting at 6:30pm.

Next up is Friends of the Fishes Fair at Rio Guadalupe resort hosted by Rio Anglers and others. This event will consist of a Trout Derby, Casting Competition and Tie-a-thon. Bring 24 flies to the tie-a-thon to help support Reel Recovery and receive raffle ticket to win prizes. The Fair starts at 8am but see the schedule above for more details.

Lastly rounding us out is GRTU’s Mend the River Banquet. This banquet supports GRTU’s efforts in helping and rebuilding after last year’s deadly floods on the Guadalupe River. They will have speakers, music, live and silent auctions. Tickets are still available through GRTU’s website.
