A new chapter begins for Jaguar Men’s Basketball.

Texas A&M University-San Antonio has named David Smith interim head coach of the men’s basketball program. Smith has been part of the program since its first two seasons, serving as an assistant coach under former head coach Chris Dial.

Smith takes over following a season in which the Jaguars earned their first Red River Athletic Conference Tournament appearance. He will be joined by new assistant coach Zach Adair as the program continues to build its culture and identity.

For Smith, the focus extends beyond the basketball court — developing student-athletes through leadership, accountability, teamwork and service while helping the Jaguars reach new heights.

The A&M-San Antonio women’s soccer team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2026 Red River Athletic Conference preseason poll.

The Jaguars enter the season looking to build on a 5-10-2 record in 2025, including a 4-6-1 mark in conference play, under head coach Tim Moody.

The men’s soccer team has been picked to finish third in the 2026 Red River Athletic Conference preseason poll.

The Jaguars enter the season after an 11-4-2 campaign in 2025, including an 8-3-1 conference record and a trip to the RRAC semifinals. The Jaguars will look to build on last season’s success as they compete for an RRAC championship and a berth in the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship.

The Jaguars will open their home schedule at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, against Schreiner University.
