What if I told you a beach trip in 2008 changed everything?
Five girls. A cooler. No plan but just a desperate need to breathe again.
That weekend became a 20-year tradition. We came back through babies and miscarriages, marriages and divorces, jobs lost and lives unraveling.
That beach held us.
Years later, standing in Sámara, I had one thought: What if more women could feel this?
That’s why Rise With the Tides exists.
Some things you just can’t get enough of: sisterhood, saltwater, and finally feeling like yourself again.

Kelly, my yoga/retreat liaison asked me what I mean by “meaning.”
It stopped me for a second.
Because most people are out here chasing the next race, the next goal, the next version of themselves and never once asking why.
Meaning isn’t a feeling. It’s not found on a finish line.
It’s the story you choose to tell about your life. The real one. Not the highlight reel.
I spent years collecting achievements and wondering why none of them felt like enough. It wasn’t until I stripped everything away: the marriage, the Ironmans, the identity I thought I was supposed to have that I found it.
Meaning is what’s left when the doing stops.
That’s the work I do with women. Not just the training. Not just the nutrition. The why behind all of it.
What does meaning look like in your life right now? Share below ⬇️.
If you are being called to 1:1 Coaching or My Rise with the Tides Retreat in December 2026, message me the word MEANING and we will set up a call to discuss YOUR meaning and what you are currently struggling with.

20,000 followers on Instagram. I honestly didn’t see that coming when I packed up my life and moved to Costa Rica four years ago.
So I figured it was time to properly introduce myself to those of you who are newer here.
I’m Jen. I’m 54. I’m a midlife transformation coach, TEDx speaker, 15x Ironman triathlete, and author living in south of Sámara, Costa Rica.
But more than any of that, I’m a woman who blew up her life, got sober, went through a divorce, and started over at 50. Not because I had it all figured out.
Because I had no other choice.
I coach women in midlife who are done performing their lives and ready to actually live them. Through movement, mindset, metabolism, and meaning, we do the real work together.
If you’re new here, welcome. Pull up a chair.
If you’ve been here a while, thank you. Genuinely.
This is just the beginning.

I am so glad I took an eight-year sabbatical from triathlon.
Because it led me straight to strength training and it changed everything. My body. My confidence. The way I showed up.
And now I get to take everything I learned and bring it to my clients.
Here’s what I know for sure: women in menopause are always chasing the long slow distance stuff. And while it feels good, what worked in the past isn’t what’s going to carry us forward.
Strength training is.
Damn.
