Checkout this photo of my great great grandfather David Henderson back in 1916 at his shoe repair shop. As a new immigrant to this country he brought his knowledge of the shoemaking trade with him. Him being a fourth generation shoemaker he took great pride in his work, me being the fourth generation at Harlick and eighth generation shoemaker I have a deep appreciation for all those that have worked hard to ensure that the trade and legacy lives on.

Each pair is made by hand which requires a variety of hand tools. Here you can see some of the lasting tools.

This weekend we’ll be at Roller Nationals in Lincoln Nebraska. We’ll have a booth setup at the competition all day Saturday to take orders and answer any questions you might have. On Friday and Saturday nights we’ll be hanging out at the Boitano Lounge with the man himself at the in downtown Lincoln. For years now Brian has expressed his fascination with artistic roller skating. Don’t miss your chance to meet with an American Olympic champion. Maybe we can get him to put a good word in with the committee to make roller skating an Olympic sport as well. 😁

We took this week off and enjoyed some family time together. I know there’s a huge back order. We were supposed to take last week off too but I decided to work through it. It felt good to get caught up but taking this time has not only given the mind and body time to rest but has allowed me to focus on what means most to me. Family. I look forward to getting back in the factory on Monday with a refreshed mindset and a pair of well rested hands. Thank you to everyone for being so patient while we continue to get caught up. Know that I’m just like you in terms of being human and knowing my own limits while maintaining a bit of sanity in this crazy world. I’m just a humble bootmaker. ❤️

Join with family and friends for the first pride skate organized by us here at Harlick. For awhile now I’ve wanted to utilize our platform for good and show support to the LGBTQ+ community as an authentic ally. On top of celebrating how amazing the community is I know there are some that fear backlash or discrimination and feel the need to hide their orientation. It’s my wish for each one of them to know that there are so many people out there that love and support them. The skating community has always been the most welcoming and accepting group of individuals. Whether it’s ice or roller I’ve seen firsthand the genuine nature of unity and support that skaters offer one another through love. I encourage all of you to join us today in bringing light and building bridges through skating. I know it’s last minute but I wanted this to come from a place of real love not a big corporatized event. See you there!
