At Open Minded Surf, sustainability is our responsibility by turning trash into treasure, and we're having lots of fun doing it!
Open Minded Surf began by making over-sized beach and wetsuit bags out of Sunbrella remnant fabric that otherwise would have ended up in our landfills. Our products are an extension of our belief that taking care of the planet is a collective endeavor in all areas of life, and we have made a conscious effort to keep it real and make it fun. We are located in San Clemente, California, which is also where we currently receive fabric donations from Girard Systems, a local awning manufacturer.

An up-close view of how our RECYCLED/REPURPOSED Sunbrella fabric repels liquid! Not only do our bags protect the Earth (because we turn trash into treasure 😃🌎) by using remnants that would otherwise end up in our landfills, our bags also protect your things from water or any other liquid (it beads up and falls away). Sunbrella awning fabric is known for its durability and strength in rainy and windy conditions, so imagine how that carries over into the lifetime of our bags!
Due to the nature of using remnant materials, every attempt will be made for custom colors and/or sizes. In addition to our larger beach/utility/yoga bags, we've added some smaller items such as Velcro pouches, that can be used for makeup, toiletries, surf wax, cell phones, keys, money, or whatever you may need to have with you. We even make pillows that are amazing for some extra comfort at the beach! The best part...ALL FABRIC WAS GOING TO OUR LANDFILLS, and now, it's NOT!
