-Not all seeds grow
-Some need fertilized, boosted and attention to their environment which surrounds them

-To help motivate and positively influence children’s lives is an opportunity to cast an infinite amount of seeds while elevating the environment and soil in which they grow 🌱

Hand in Hand Parenting ❤️

When the cooperative energy is low in my home I am definitely more likely to launch a threat or try to garner control in the situation. And while that might “work” in the moment, it has a few major drawbacks…

For starters it teaches my children that if they don’t get what they want they can threaten and punish someone to heed their preferred results.

Second it puts our relationship at risk. I become someone who will intentionally inflict pain in their lives if they “mess up” in my perspective, making it far less likely they will come to me when they need me in life’s inevitable messy moments.

So instead of using control in these moments or seasons I have learned to use connection.

I start by reflecting on the WHY behind the what. These past couple weeks I know that my daughter’s surgery and 2 week recovery brought lots of dynamics and emotions (and sleep deprivation) for all of us.

Then I made sure to get meaningful time with each of my kids to help regulate and reconnect with them in ways that offered them the type of connection time that feeds their heart and our dynamic. (Baking with one, wrestling with one, and puzzles with one).

Then I worked on creating clear structure on the things I needed more cooperation on. A calendar for my planner child that laid out bath/shower timelines and who takes who to school when and a clear understanding of trips and days off. And a clear daily expectations list including routine expectations and play time schedule and tv time options.

Children cooperate when grown ups put in their work to understand their needs and offer the nurture and structure they need to feel regulated and ready to roll with the flow!

Love on.
