My latest small-group program, Therapeutic Yoga for Those Who Sit, is set to launch September 12th in person at South Park Yoga and Wellness. Will you be there?⁣

Sitting is often an inevitable part of modern life, and while it sounds good to try to sit less, the reality is that it's not easy to make that happen. That's why this program is designed to improve how you feel without needing to take drastic measures like a career change or selling all your furniture (although feel free to do those things too if that works for you!)⁣

Whether it's your back, your hips, or your overall wellbeing that is suffering, feeling better in a sustainable way requires more than just a hip flexor stretch or a heart opener. That's why Therapeutic Yoga for Those Who Sit uses a whole-person approach to understanding physical symptoms. You'll learn how to recruit the amazing adaptability of your human brain and body in order to feel better. We'll use supported rest, breath work, yoga poses, and movement to support health and wellbeing in ways that fit into your life. Along the way, you'll grow your awareness of what’s happening in your body, and improve your understanding of what your symptoms are trying to tell you. This key ingredient of therapeutic yoga puts you in the driver’s seat of your own healing as you learn to move better and feel better.⁣

The program runs over five Sundays from September 12- October 10, 1-2pm. Pay just $100 ($20/ class) and receive:⁣
✅ 5 live in-person classes with Rachel⁣
✅ Personalized guidance and feedback about your movement⁣
✅ A brief customized program (including written instructions) for you to work on between classes if you like. This should take 5-15 minutes a day.⁣
✅ E-mail support from Rachel for the duration of the program.⁣
✅ After 5 weeks, you’ll have collected a set of tools that you can use to support your well-being whenever you need them.⁣

We live in a society that has forgotten how to grieve.

From a standpoint of "Get over it, buckle up your boot straps and keep on trucking!" and then recurring to numbing and escaping any form of discomfort.

Unfortunately what this does to our bodies is not healthy.

Our country has one of the highest rates of depression, anxiety and addiction in the world.

In traditional cultures, there is the presence of rituals to support when a person or community is walking with grief.

In the western world, we are often left to Netflix & pharmaceuticals to move through loss & heaviness in the body.

When we do not feel and practice grief, emotions get stuck in our bodies and can manifest depression, trauma, and dis-ease.

Introducing DEATH CAFE .....

This unique and incredible workshop will dive in to how to approach loss, grief and the concept of allowing pain and sorrow to move through the body and process the intense yet -natural -reality of death, loss and impermanence.

Gris Alves is a Thanatologist, Trauma Informed Embodied Mindfulness Guide and 500RYT. She dedicates her life to help others feel and normalize Grief, through the sensations in the body; return to earth based traditions of healing and to bringing awareness to the beauty and Sanctity of death.

Sarah Knapp is a San Diego based Death Midwife and Grief Guide. She supported her dad through his past ten years of Alzheimer’s and facilitated a home funeral for his passing last year in March. She works with earth and ancestral based grief practices and is passionate about home and family centered elder and death care.

Did you know that we have Healthy Backs classes - six days a week at South Park Yoga And Wellness!

If you, or anybody you know is having back pain or back issues this might be the perfect class for you!

It’s a way to strengthen and stretch your back in a completely supported way, using our amazing yoga wall!

These are just some of the poses that are done in the class, and don’t let them freak you out!!

There is a very simple way to safely get into each of these poses no matter your fitness level.

Our instructors are extremely skilled and will guide you in your Healthy Backs yoga class safely so you walk out feeling amazing and possibly even feeling a couple of inches taller!

CAMEL POSE (photo 1)
An invigorating pose ! -
like a strong cup of coffee to wake you up in the morning ☕️
Gets that blood FLOWING!!

It is also a Hip flexor stretch& chest opener

KONASANA (photo 2)
means angle pose - the legs make that angle - diamond shape- and it stretches the inner thigh, the groin and the psoas as well as adds some beautiful traction in the spine! 🌪

SIDE ANGLE POSE (photo 3)
Stretches the lateral body strengthens the legs develops balance and stamina ▶️

ROBERT HAMMILL on the Yoga wall teaches at South Park Yoga Mon & Thur at 4PM and Saturdays at 8AM.

Other times are Wednesday 4PM with @socalyogawalls and Friday 4PM with @bealspetra and Sunday 4PM with @ameliachang_ptyoga

In our society there is a “I need more , or I need this or that to be happy” mentality.
Please remember , You ARE and always will be enough. Nourishing yourself with self love is not only essential for surviving, but also for thriving. Taking class nourishes your love to self .. When your mind, body and spirit are harmonious, you will bring harmony to the world. 🧡

Class will emphasize 7 Crystal Bowls, which are attuned to the 7 primary chakras located along the spine. This tradition teaches that the "mind" is not simply contained within the confines of the brain and skull, but the "mind" is contained within the entire physical body. The chakras are energy centers that provide a road map to our holding patterns of predictable and mappable thoughts and feelings and emotions. Stuck energy in the form of negative, painful, or problematic emotions can lead to tension, tightness, and pain patterns throughout the body. This practice is designed to process through and resolve these holding patterns by moving energy.

Come tune those Chakras and Feel better all around!
