For Ocean with David Attenborough, we captured the world’s first cinematic footage of bottom trawling in action beneath the ocean surface.

Using entirely new camera systems placed inside fishing nets and on the seabed itself, the team exposed one of the ocean’s most destructive hidden practices in unprecedented detail.

What they witnessed shocked them.

The footage became one of the film’s most talked-about sequences, helping bring the issue of bottom trawling into public, political and policy conversations around the world.
