I’ve always been crunchy- curious. Teetering on the edge of being a treehugger. Organizing the recycling, as a kid, in my parents’ house, looking into ways to save water and energy, trying to reduce, reuse, recycle, repurpose, repair, regift, etc.
Now with our water usage in check here in California (55 gallons per day per person at home) I’m happy to share a water saving strategy with you.
This is a picture of my dish soap mixed with water in a spray bottle. It’s great if you’re just doing a few dishes. You won’t need as much water to rinse. I fill about 1/5- 1/4 of the bottle full with soap with then fill to the top with water.
With this I’ve cut out turning the water on for the washing and only need it for the rinsing.
One other strategy that has save a lot of water is turning it off if not rinsing something in that moment. For example, I don’t let the water run when I put the dishes in the dishwasher. Yes, even that 5 second reach down to put the plate in the dishwasher rack- the water is off.

How is this part of yoga and personal training??? It’s awareness. It’s compassion. It’s building new healthy habits that don’t just benefit the individual but the society and the planet.

What is you best strategy on using less water?

Peace,
Rebecca

Yoga with pets can be a bit chaotic but this week I had the best pet experience when I led a meditation exercise with some students in their home.
I was leading a guided meditation centered around joy. The lights were dim. The atmosphere was calm. Attention was focused. The dog was laying his head on my lap while I pet him and walked the people through the re-creation of a moment of joy.
“Let your senses come alive with memory of the moment”
“Inhale and draw the joy in. Fill you body with it.”
“As you exhale create a sigh of joy-silently to yourself or out loud.”
The dog at that moment released a long sigh!! He had been totally silent up to that moment then perfectly on cue he sighed!

Yoga teachers 'risking serious hip problems' 11/04/2019

I recently mentioned in class about yogis who need hip replacements at a young age. I sometimes feel sad that I don’t practice an intense vinyasa asana sequence regularly. This is a good reminder to me to be grateful to have so many hatha classes so I can slow down and work with students to encourage them to slow down as well. It’s in the slowing down and the listening that we learn what is best for us!

Yoga teachers 'risking serious hip problems' Pushing their bodies to repeat the same yoga positions is leading to a rise in hip problems among teachers, a leading physio warns.

Happy last week of summer vacation!!!

07/03/2019

I’ll be returning to San Diego in 2 weeks. So lucky to have the opportunity to have this long, much needed vacation and to reconnect with friends and family in England and Germany. I look forward to seeing San Diego friends in class, at the gym, and around town. I’m also looking forward to getting back to my garden and home and spicing up everyday life with a little bit of vacation energy.
Please reach out and message me at my personal profile (Rebecca Tennant Teriete) if you have any questions or just want to say hi!
See you soon ❤️❤️

A few weeks ago I took a workshop on using breath the reduce our internal pressure. I don’t know about you but for me, even as a yoga teacher, I feel the pressure and stress of life! This system fits right into what I love teaching. When people leave class and say they haven’t been this relaxed since... I know I’ve done my job. Your yoga practice doesn’t have to be physically intense to be effective. Sometimes we just need to dial it down.
These are some photos taken at the workshop led by Somer Nicole (YogaDoctors.TV) at Prana Yoga Center La Jolla.
