Tennis doubles champions take flight! Congratulations to Nadine and Kerri for winning Women’s 4.0 division at Nationals! 🎉 🏆

At the 37th Annual Peninsula Tennis Club Adult Championships:
🥇 Charlotte Francovalle won the 3.5 women’s singles
🏆 🏆 Tyler Haire & Lucas Olson won the 3.5 men’s doubles
💪 Kelley Axelson & Leslie Hazard won the 3.5 women’s doubles
🥈 Paige Hazard (with Elizabeth Yu-Hansen) were 3.5 women’s doubles finalists
🥈 Jim Partridge (with Ciara Levine) were 3.5 mixed doubles finalists.
🥇 Lorena Whiteside (with John Tessmer) won 3rd place at the USTA NTRP National Championships 18+ Mixed Doubles.

1. Would you tell us about your tennis “career”?

I started playing tennis about 4 years ago and was hooked! I was inspired during COVID to just get outside and play, and tennis was the perfect outlet to stay active and socialize with friends outdoors. I joined PTC to try league play. I play doubles with friends about once a week if I can swing it (get it?) but wish I could play every day! A favorite memory was qualifying for 2.5 USTA Sectionals in the desert. The weekend mostly involved waiting around for the rain to stop but I won my only match on late Sunday night and had a lot of fun with friends!

2. What’s in your bag?

My OG racket, visor, sunglasses, Clif Bars, lots of water, and a sweet keychain gifted from a friend that says, “She believed she could, so she did.”

3. What’s the best piece of tennis advice you have received?

Is “watch the ball” too basic? Seems to be the best piece of advice that is somehow hard to remember!

4.Is a hot dog a sandwich?

Absolutely not! A hot dog is its own distinct food category – a masterpiece! You don’t go to Petco Park for a sandwich – you go for a Friar Frank!
