Est. 1953 (aka) SRP the neighbors who still live there tell stories of beach ball ancient past. The modern day era is attended by supportive and non sarcastic men and women athletes many of which are rated players. It's also home to 9th annual 4th of July, Queen and King of Beach and the weekend before thanksgiving our Kathy B and Susan G Komen 3 day fundraiser tournament. All players from all cou
rts and skill levels can ask to join in if they are the happy sort. If your new its best to start by bringing your own partner. All special events are open to all and funded by our sponsored MooregGreg.Com Marine and 1RM Performance GYM and Hosted by Melissa Hinkley all mission beach residents. Their flagship court is the flag pole painted Men's challenge court and the North SRP Court is typically reserved as a competitive Womens court. Dozens of tournaments and a summer league have been played here with many champions. Liberties are lost each year as lifeguards clamp down more and more on the 4th july so always love and play it like its your last 4th. We blast the music like its our last. Players on the mens court welcome new serious (yet friendly) mens players to join in. The north Women's Court at this time lacks it's organizing leaders and seldom gets used but is always quick to fill up with coed groups who play almost everyday of year. SRP and sand surf snow association also installed the 2nd North court of three. All have (grandfathered in) city permits. #A24 south got it's permit in 1972 and A25 and A26 during a revision fight where 10 courts other courts were lost. One high power short lived politician who didn't want VB in front of his house almost got hem all out. A25 and A26 won its place in history when Greg Moore our sponsor got involved and volunteered time to lobby city. Over the years many flair ups, conflicts and equipment removals have all been resolved with time and help of our regular mens players, please thank them for their support and donations. Tradition: Men show up Flag court 11am weekends, they will come by 1pm latest like horses to a barn. Winning team retains court but gives challengers choice of side or serve and how many players they want on their side? First 4 players to arrive must roll for teams, no stacking talent very bad form on a supportive court. Closest to line picks their partner. Player must choose from players on sideline for next game, not players coming off court. A winning team may take a bye after 3 wins. Last team ensures all gear is safely stowed and inventoried. NVL and Olympic rules meaning all handsets must have no more than 1 and a half rotation. Players call their own fouls. Please never hang onto corroding net and always help look for missing balls and leftover personal effects. The volunteers make our King and Queen Tournament. Court curators are: Greg Moore, Andy Kantas, Melissa Hinkley, Bo Solis, Mike Fitzgerald, Kiel Smith, Lenny Daley, Dan Bergus and Pat Hargraves. Our volunteers like Dave Root, Steve Hubbard, Chris Hauser, Melissa Hinkley, and so many more are what make our tournament possible. They help set up the best beach bash in the USA and best beach on the world. Cohasset you suck. lol jk
Please, be kind to our SRP neighbors who pay a lot to live so close to our court. No parking poaching or using their water is a great start. Ask your curators for help with those or medical issues. Please be sensitive to our history and check with your courts elders and committee?
