Ballet Folklorico - GIFT of DANCE

Heads up! We're now into August 2026 and looking forward to finishing our work in Old Town this week ( What a wonderful summer of Dancing we have had there!).... and then we're... Dancing for the Lemon Festival in Chula Vista on Aug.15th, ( 3rd ave. From 4-5 pm). Come out and see all our students! We have a full hour planned with many of our favorite dances, songs, dancers and families !!! In the meantime, Enjoy some photos from our Fiesta de Reyes performances!

We, 4 top students , Dir. Mrs. Kathy and Dir. Mr.Robert of our school of Dance, had a Wonderful, ( albeit feet exhausting) :), GREAT 1st week performing our 1st ever 2 months + weekly performances in Old Town at the Fiesta de Reyes!!! We perform every Weds. and Thurs. from 2-5 pm., every hour (3< 45 min. performances a day) till August 6th. COME SEE US! WE'D LOVE to see you in the audience!! Some people have even visited multiple times!

"THE GIFT OF DANCE Company and School/ began in 1983 ( with many dance styles) and the Ballet Folklorico Division began in 1999. Having danced in Italy, Mexico, Canada and the USA, this Company and School features students as young as 1&1/2 ( most start at age 3) and up to age 85. Both students and professional dancers bring the Joy's, comfort, diversity, colors, music, dance styles, flavors and delights of Mexican, Tex/Mex and European Dances to many families, theaters, events and communities. We were chosen exclusively with Native Americans to represent all of California in "California's 250 Year Centennial Anniversary Celebration" with Heads of State. We performed for/ with the late Mr.Rogers, and the late Joan Kroc and KPBS. A few of us danced for the late St.Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa's memorial service. We perform in Old Town at least 4x's a year and for the Del Mar Fair since 1983. In addition, we dance for weddings and for many local and national community, television and News events. "Our Gift of Dance" Company and School's dances stem from traditional steps/choreography we were trained and inspired to learn under a Mayor from Mexico, with dance steps and costumes from the 1800's and are very much a part of our great, great, great grandparents' personal experiences, delights and entertainment, love, food, colors, faith and music of both our direct indigenous ( Native American) and direct non-indigenous (European, Texan, Irish, German, etc..) ancestors.
