SDRC Raceway — August 2026
This is the first SDRC newsletter. We’ll do one a month. It lives on Facebook and Instagram. Not an email blast, not a printed flyer. Home racing, the shop, what’s coming, and when our people go on the road.
INTRODUCING THE SDRC AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
If you have ever wanted a real hour on the stand with someone who can look at your car and your lines, that is now a thing you can book.
The SDRC Ambassador Program is one-on-one time for new racers and regulars. First session is about getting the car race-ready: how it operates, steering, radio and ESC calibration, diffs, tire prep. After that it is driving. Lines, jumps, consistency, passing, defending, traffic, and how you actually race a main.
Tyler Hicks is the first ambassador. Sessions run around his work and personal schedule, so availability is limited. About 60 minutes. $40 per appointment.
Want on the list? Contact SDRC and we will get you lined up with Tyler.
This does not replace Ryan Cavalieri Driver Clinics. Those stay the special event (four-time World Champ, and Ryan sets the dates 100%). Ambassador is the one-on-one training between those clinics.
AUGUST AT THE TRACK
Wednesday Night Worlds, Aug 12 — 21.5 2WD Buggy A-Main
Five minutes. Sixteen laps. The top three covered by 0.672.
Jay Neill (TQ) led every lap and won it 16/5:17.042. Brian Long sat second the whole way, 16/5:17.509, 0.467 back, and he was the most consistent car in the main (98.52%). Brad Ambrose finished third, 16/5:17.714, 0.204 behind Long.
That close third did not come from sitting there. Marty Edmonds had P3 from lap 3 through lap 11. Ambrose took it back on lap 12 and held it. Then he put in the fastest lap of the race on the last lap: 18.782. Nobody else in the main broke 19.3.

Wednesday Night Worlds, Aug 19 — 17.5 Expert 2WD Buggy A-Main
Same series, different class, different kind of main. Six lead changes. Four different leaders. The win decided on lap 16 by 0.006.
Austin Riley started on pole. Antonio Caputo led lap 3. Teucer Carrera led laps 4–7 and again on 14. Riley had it for most of the middle and again on 15. Donny Vinkemulder, fourth on the grid, sat P4 from lap 4 through 14, moved to P3 on 15, and took P1 on the last lap.
Final: Vinkemulder 16/5:08.342, Riley 16/5:08.348, Carrera 16/5:08.406. Carrera had the race-fast lap, 17.473 on lap 10. Riley and Carrera both had a 24-second-plus lap 15 (24.483 and 25.057). Vinkemulder never went 20 after lap 2. He did not have the purple lap. He had the last one that counted.

On-Road Racing
As many of you know, we have been working toward an On-Road Racing program at SDRC. About two months ago it looked close. Then we hit a setback with the paving contractor Property Management approved. Bummer.
Kyle Christy will run the program for us. He is working personal contacts to get things moving again. We will keep you posted here.
On the road: Levi Raymond wins at Stock Nationals
Levi Raymond won Invitational 17.5 2WD Buggy at the JConcepts Stock Nationals last weekend at Coyote Hobbies. That is the one to hang on the wall.
Ed Garcia took two: Independent 21.5 2WD Buggy and Independent 17.5 4WD Buggy, TQ in both.
Tyler Hicks won 17.5 Stadium Truck and finished third in Open 13.5 4WD.
Chase Raymond was second in Invitational 4WD and third in the Invitational Overall, with Levi second overall behind Davey Batta.
Shout out to everyone else from SDRC who made the trip.
