Current and former students, especially those of you who are nearing eligibility for a black belt promotion, please get in touch. There will be another black belt test some time in 2023. You can be ready. Please let us know, if you need or want help.
Andrea and I spent about 2 hours today training with our favorite German born sensei. Martial arts, especially for those of us without the benefit of eyesight, is about connection. The 3 of us trained in the park connecting through the techniques and drills, as well as connecting as friends and fellow human beings. So often we try to do a thing or lots of things. Maybe take a page from the book of my favorite little green dude. “Do or do not. There is no try.” Simplicity is where peace is found.
Andrea took this picture of the park where we trained today. In it you can see the fountain, and the red tiles surrounding it. There are palm trees and a green grassy area visible in the background.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wishing everyone the best in 2022!
" 'A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step', and while we keep on taking one step after the other, we come to terms with the challenges that lay ahead of us. Not losing sight of what is important to us, we venture out and experience being a student in the martial arts, something so humbling and yet empowering. It fills us with bliss and happiness..."
- Shihan Mario Schapp, Chief Instructor Tekio Jutsu
Congratulations to Sensei Joshua Loya! He won a Team Gold with Team USA at the ISA World Para Surfing Championships.
This picture is of the full team just after they were awarded their team medals. Front row are team members in wheelchairs and second row is standing. Two of the teammates in the middle front are holding the trophy. On either side of the team is an American flag. Photo credit
