Congratulations to another one of our athletes, Karla Dulay on reaching another level in her tennis career. We want to officially announce that Karla Dulay has accepted a scholarship and has officially committed to play for the UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team in 2014! Karla took some time to give us a little insight on how it all happened. So proud of you Karla, Go Highlanders!

Tennis has been a major part of my life ever since I was very young. I've spent much of my life out on the court training and competing all over California. During tournaments, I would watch my older friends and team mates battle out tough matches. Many of them took themselves to the next level to play college tennis, and after all these years, I've reached that same point myself.

On October 30th of 2013, I committed to UC Riverside's women's tennis team. It first started when the coach came out to watch me at a tournament in Orange County. After he had watched me, we spoke to each other on the phone and I expressed my interest in the school. After he had watched me at another tournament, he invited me for a visit to see if UCR was the right fit for me. I gladly accepted the offer and was able to tour the campus, meet the team, and find out what UCR was all about. While I did consider all of my options, overall, I enjoyed the time I spent at UCR and accepted the scholarship offer a few weeks later.

We recently caught up with Thomas Knapp, Level Up Athlete. Here's what he had to say about his road to college basketball. Keep up the great work Thomas!

------------------------------------------

High school basketball has been one of the best experiences of my life. So far I have learned a lot about myself and it is a big part of my daily life. As the years have passed I have had the opportunity to watch some very good high school basketball players come out of my high school, Westview High School. Watching them I got more into the recruiting process. My first step was to join an AAU team. I joined the Top Gun Costal Elite’s high school club team where I traveled to a lot of different tournaments from Vegas to Long Beach. These tournaments were the first place I saw real college basketball talent and I also got the chance to play against some very good players in my two years in the travel ball circuit. Unlike most players I have only played travel basketball since my sophomore season so I have had less exposure to the circuit than other players. Nevertheless, I feel I have been able to improve greatly and raise my game to a college level by competing in those tournaments.
