Did you know that the Gemstone Gem Bears have names? The girl bear wearing her signature bow is named Fabi Bear, and the boy bear is named Sami Bear!
Today is Gemstone’s 7 year anniversary, and to celebrate I thought I would post some Gemstone history. The bears are named after my grandparents, Fabiola & Samuel Hernandez. I’ve included some pics of me with them as a child, and pictures of them in their younger years.
Even though they passed away before Gemstone opened, they are a big part of its origin. They significantly influenced my work ethic, and always taught me that I could achieve anything and to dream big. Opening a business was scary, and hard. They instilled in me that I had what it takes to do it. Fabiola worked in a clothing factory and was a gifted seamstress. Samuel worked on the California railroad, and built me a balance beam by hand that helped me hone my love for gymnastics as a young girl. They are my grandparents, and I miss them every day. I wanted a reminder of them in the gym, and to have them be a part of it. So, Sami & Fabi bear were born.
Now you know a piece of Gemstone’s story. I am so grateful to our past and current coaches, parents, and gymnasts for being a part of our story too. Thank you for a wonderful 7 years, and I look forward to many more!
PS-something BIG is coming to Gemstone... I can’t wait to tell you more soon!

We had to share a beautiful gift that long time Gemstone gymnast Carmen made for her coach Miss Lailah! Carmen created a Miss Lailah Barbie doll, complete with Gemstone uniform, coach bio on the back, and the lovely Carmen on the box!
Miss Lailah and the entire Gemstone staff is so honored to have received this! Seeing the impact Gemstone coaches make on their gymnasts is such a beautiful gift.

Meet Your Coaches: Wicked Winter Wonderland ✨
Our Wicked Winter Wonderland recreational meet classes are now enrolling! Meet the Gemstone coaches who will help your gymnast learn, prepare, and shine on competition day.
Gym Gems: Intro, Level 1, and Level 2+
Gymnasts will learn a routine on Vault, Floor & Bars, then perform for judges and receive awards at the meet.
🩷 Intro Level: Mr. Ozkar
Thursday | 6:30–7:30 PM
🩷 Level 1: Miss Maddy
Saturday | 11:30 AM–12:30 PM
🩷 Level 2+: Miss Sam
Friday | 5:00–6:00 PM
Group Routine: Level 1+
Gymnasts will learn a group routine set to music featuring acro, tumbling & dance, then perform together for judges on meet day.

Thursday | 6:30–7:30 PM
Enrolling in a Wicked Winter Wonderland class is your ticket to compete in our in-house competition on December 12th! Perfect for girls ages 5.5+. Gymnasts must be enrolled in at least one other Gemstone class to participate.
Each enrollment includes:
• Team leotard
• Customized bow or prop
• Ribbons
• Trophy
Our meets are designed to build confidence and self-esteem while giving your gymnast the chance to proudly step onto the podium and celebrate all their hard work!
Enrollment ends September 13th.
Classes begin the week of September 14th.

✨ Learning, Growing & Bringing It Back to Gemstone! 💎🤸♀️
Earlier this month, our coaches traveled to Phoenix, Arizona for the USA Gymnastics Congress! Our team attended workshops focused on spotting techniques, child development, the latest coaching methods, and so much more.
At Gemstone, we believe that great coaches never stop learning! 📚✨ Continuing education allows our team to expand their knowledge, strengthen their skills, and continue creating the safest, most positive, and effective experience possible for every child.
We loved bringing everything we learned back to Gemstone and putting those new ideas into practice! 💙
