Another fun filled day at the islands with Lance and friends. Some good opportunities throughout the day. The Yellowtail today fell for the yo-yo jig, Rapala x rap, surface iron and of course the mighty live sardine. Great fishing with you guys once again!

Pretty epic bank fishing for those slug Yellowtail! We had our fair share of casualties but that comes with the territory. We stayed put in perfect weather for about 10 hours putting in the rail time. Lots of hard won battles, rocked fish and overall action. We pulled it late afternoon and slid into the east. Day 2 we enjoyed steady action on Mahi and even released our first marlin of the season! Thanks Tim and crew for coming all the way from the great state of Texas to join us!

Well the limit style troll em ups were fun while they lasted! Took bill and the boys long distance on their 1.5 day. Had our quota by noon and pointed east from there. Ran across some stray dorado and a kelp loaded with 2 lb yellowfin. Fed them some anchovies and let em swim to fight another day! Thanks again guys!

Pretty much sums it up out there! 3 way jig strikes and full speed night time action for the elevator boys. It’s a bit of a trek but we were happy to make it after some “fair” results in the overnight world. Thanks guys CYA in 2 weeks!

Another fun day of catching with an awesome family! They came all the way from Quebec to enjoy some fun in the sun and to hopefully capture some prime table fare. They did all that and then some. Truly a pleasure to take em out as they had the right vibes and got the job done! Thank you again!

The islands keep cranking out Yellowtail! You’ll have to work for it though. With less boat traffic it pretty much puts a bullseye on your back for the seals to wreak havoc. It’s definitely a double edge sword as boats put fish down but seals try for every fish you hook when it’s a light crowd. Either way it’s worth it and if you bob and weave enough you’ll put together a catch! Thanks again Chris and friends handling business.

Went for another ride out west to pound town USA. It was a nice ride out but that quickly deteriorated throughout the day. Luckily we were able to trade a beating for some nice Bluefin! Finished our trip off with a few Yellowtail and various other critters. The Williamson lures Gomame jig has been complimenting our 3 inch anchovies quite well as of late. Always a good idea to have a few tied on. Thank you again Patrick Lewis and friends for joining us with those good vibes!

Took Trey Dog and the boyz out for a quick little overnight stroll. We had steady action throughout the day on Mahi, Yellowfin tuna and an epic Yellowtail ender. I was even fortunate enough to meet the New Orleans beer chugging champ EL JORDO! Thank you guys again for the good times!

Rapala Xrap mag. Probably the most versatile lure in the game. Our most common use case for this would be targeting Yellowtail inshore, islands and shallow high spots offshore. We use this lure first to get a lay of the land and locate some biting fish. Typically that turns into a drift or anchoring situation. If bait is an issue then we may continue to use it the entire time as anchoring and drifting require a steady chum line and a good supply of hook baits. We keep it simple and troll it on 80lb monofilament, we prefer the 30 and 40 size.I don’t think color is a make or break factor but we like the Blue and green mackerel pattern, Pink UV and Sardine. We run this lure a littler slower at 4.5 to 5 knots. The lure itself is extremely durable and there is no need to upgrade hooks. Aside from Yellowtail I’ve personally seen this very lure catch about everything in the eastern pacific. Think Tuna, Wahoo, Grouper, Dorado, Marlin etc…. Thanks Kevin Kim and da boyz for another awesome trip!

Took Reuter and the boyz out for a total Bluefin round up. Turned and burned from our last one and banged out to the west hoping for more. Started out our trip playing the full speed numbers game. immediately put us on a good one that lasted ….. they were stuck to us like glue. One more stop after that and we had to call it quits to save some for trophies. Took a second for the fish to float but it eventually got with it showing as breezers in beautiful weather. We gave em what they wanted and got our quota right before sundown. Some sunburned dudes went down hard as we headed east with another heavy haul. Thanks again Justin Reuter and da boyz for another banger!!!!
