The 2020 US Police and Fire Championships are still being planned for June 10-20. We will continue to monitor the situation daily with regards to COVID-19 and its impact in the US and around the World. USPFC is committed to the safety and well-being of our athletes, friends, family, vendors, volunteers and staff and will provide regular updates to keep everyone well informed.

We will once again be partnering with Rock N Roll Marathon for our Full and Half Marathon events, scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2020. Registration is now open at www.uspfc.org. Register now before the May 15th deadline.

We would like to congratulate athlete, Gold Medalist and Sports Coordinator Jason Smith on his retirement from the City of Moore Fire Department in Oklahoma. Jason had these amazing words to say about his time as a firefighter:

"As a fireman I have worked,1 bombing, 4 tornadoes, a couple of floods a hurricane, and thousands upon thousands of calls but I am no hero, but as I walk away and retire this day from the MFD, I would like to tell you who the real heroes are. The real HEROS are my kids, who have all grown up with me missing birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, ball games, dance recitals, choir concerts, slumber parties and gymnastic meets, school plays, recitals, award ceremonies, helping with homework or tucking them into bed and just missing about a third of their normal everyday lives in general, all without ever hearing a negative word about what I do because they know its important. they say they understand but they dont, they cant, they do know that everyday I leave and they say good bye it could be the last time. As they get older they learn the routine and when your home and when your off and they accept the way it is but they never truly understand. And yes wives, girlfriends, moms and dads, they are special in their own right to do the job for you when you are not home but they are adults and they get it and we couldn't do it without them, but it's the kids who are most affected. Just wanted my kids and every kid of a fireman, policeman, or any other type of public safety officer do know that YOU GUYS ARE THE REAL HEROS, FOR LETTING US DO THE JOB WE LOVE."

May 6 UPDATE: 2017 World Police and Fire Games

The Toronto City Council met yesterday and passed a motion to investigate and confirm the feasibility of hosting the 2017 World Police and Fire Games in Toronto and report the findings to the City’s Executive committee on May 24, 2016. Although we were hoping for a more definitive result, we are still optimistic that the Executive Committee and City Council will conclude positively that the 2017 Games be held Toronto. We will give you an update as soon as we have any official information. Thank you for your patience as we work to bring the 2017 Games to fruition.

MARCH 31 UPDATE: 2017 World Police and Fire Games

Before announcing his decision to withdraw from the Games, the Mayor of Montreal contacted the Mayor of Toronto and asked him to Host the 2017 Games. And, all of Toronto, including their police officers and firefighters have shown great interest in hosting the 2017 Games.

Toronto is working diligently toward building a bid that competitors will be happy with, but it takes a while to sort out the details, -- sports venues, budget, etc
