An absolute joy running the boat today. Frisky calico bass is the start of what we all hope to be a fun season. After a long and strenuous maintenance cycle the boat looks great. We are starting to work our afternoon trips into our schedule. Currently we are running trips Friday- Sunday afternoon 3pm-8:30pm. The Captains really appreciate this time slot. Awesome opportunities happen at the end of the end of the day. This past Saturday was a great example. Sandbass turn on going into sundown. Sculpin too. What an awesome day on the 9 mile bank yesterday. Everything worked out exactly the way I hoped. We knocked out 140 mostly medium grade chili pepper rockfish on our first 2 drifts for 18 passengers. We targeted reds next hoping for a nicer grade of fish. And they wanted to bite!!!! Some days everything falls into place. Limits of rockfish the included 29 quality reds. The rockfish season progresses. We have been looking at mostly near coastal spots that have not been fished in a while with successful mixed bottom fishing. The water has been warm and relatively clean. Calico and sandbass are always on our minds. C'mon down and visit the boys and me, Fred.
