Mornings are my favorite time of day here in Las Ánimas. Today, while making the first tracks on the beach, a waning crescent moon cradles Jupiter, and the rising sun produced a spectrum of light. Even better, Noche, the camp cat made an appearance.

We are ramping up again following Hurricane Polo. I’m looking forward to taking another group down to see the beauty of Baja and the Gulf of California and to enjoy some incredible dishes expertly prepared by Chef Liz.

Whale Sharks will segregate depending on the availability of certain foods. Males prefer zooplankton and fish eggs which are usually close to the surface. In this unusual event, we see 4 females feeding on abundant fish fry, their preferred diet, just below the surface. The abundance of these food sources, and warm surface waters, are what have been drawing these fascinating creatures to Bahia de los Ángeles for millennia.
