Happy 5️⃣0️⃣th birthday to our one and only, Professor Derryck!!! Thank you for all that you do for our 1802 family, we love you❣️🎉🎂🎈

Team 1802 absolutely dominated this past weekend at ! We were on fire, bringing home three major team trophies, including 1st place in both the Academy and Elite 8 divisions. We also secured 3rd place in the Organization category, which is a massive achievement given the smaller number of schools in our organization. Our students trained incredibly hard, and even with my high expectations, they still managed to surpass them all. What an incredible, high-note finish to the year!

One of the top highlights at JJWL San Diego was watching the Hamakawa family dominate the mats.

​Paige had a memorable tournament debut in the toddler division. After dropping her first match, she flipped a switch, realized her competitive potential, and fought back to win her next two. Her brother, Troy, also showed excellent progress, bringing home a silver medal thanks to a noticeably improved focus and a clean game plan.

​The family's success was capped by Stephen, one of 1802 Jiu Jitsu's most dedicated athletes. Stephen's consistency—showing up for every class and relentlessly seeking advice afterward—is legendary. That dedication translated directly into results: he swept the blue belt division, winning all his matches to secure another gold medal. His work ethic guarantees his success.

​We also want to thank Mom , whose support behind the scenes is invaluable, ensuring both Stephen and the kids consistently make it to training.

Coach Cindy wins gold at Masters Worlds and earns her Black Belt. Cindy works incredibly hard every single day. Full-time job, mom of 2 crazy kids, teaches and assists at 1802 jiu jitsu. She doesn't realize how much she inspires me and everyone else. We love you, Cindy

We had so much fun at our summer picnic! It's incredible to see how much the gym continues to grow.

This Saturday will be our annual summer picnic. Pot lock sign up sheets are at the front desk. We will be having tons of food and games for the kids, and members can enter a raffle to win private lessons, 1802 merchandise, and even a Nintendo Switch 2. See you all there.
