I don't forgive others because they deserve it, I forgive others because I deserve it.
Forgiveness will give you peace.

There's an old adage in sales that "people buy from people they like". This should be amended to "all other things being equal, people buy from people they like". Client relationships are remarkably important, but I've seen countless sellers rely too heavily on the personal, and not nearly enough on the strategic/tactical. If the solution you're providing to your partners isn't creating meaningful ROI, then you can be in your client's wedding, but you're eventually going to lose their business. Make sure that as the relationship strengthens, it doesn't result in lost focus on creativity, strategic insight, new concepts, elite ex*****on, etc. Combining relationship and tactical excellence is the key to building long-term, beneficial partnerships.
I am very fortunate to be someone that aspiring sports professionals reach out to for career advice on a regular basis. More often than not, I end up providing the following general advice based on the content (or lack thereof) of our conversation 1) Be prepared - you have asked for this conversation. It's not realistic to think that the discussion will be driven by anyone other than you. 2) Stand out - research the person that you'rep planning to speak with and ask questions that reflect that you've conducted that research. Ask questions about trending topics in the field you're discussing, etc. We all recognize that the goal of many of these conversations is simply to establish contacts and build a network, but you'll be infinitely more memorable if you find a way to separate yourself from others taking similar steps. 3) Create a follow-up strategy - the old "I think I left my gloves in your car, so I guess we'll have to have another date". Outline a strategy to keep the person posted on your progress, and then follow up. There are few things more rewarding than having the chance to assist someone else in their professional climb, and my experience has shown that these are steps that will help those efforts (for whatever that's worth).
Don’t overwhelm yourself trying to become an expert overnight.
