My message:

Dear _____,

My name is ____________ and I am asking for swift action regarding the disaster at Nippon Dynawave in Longview Washington. Chemical contamination has tragically reached the Columbia River. I ask for transparent environmental testing and reporting, long term water monitoring, emergency clean up funding, and accountability for this environmental disaster. The river connects us all in the Pacific Northwest. It is our water, our fish, a foundational part of all life in our beloved region.

Finally, I ask that you partner with the many Native Nations who live in relation to the Columbia to address this tragedy.

With hope,

Ashley Nichole Lewis

🚨BREAKING: Vote Shows Why We Need To Pass Wild Olympics NOW: “Last week’s shocking Senate Vote against the Boundary Waters shows why only the full Wilderness & Wild & Scenic River safeguards in U.S. Senator Patty Murray & Rep. Emily Randall’s Act will protect salmon streams against travesties like this in the future” said Sportsmen For Wild Olympics spokesperson Ashley Nichole Lewis of Bad Ash Outdoors, a Fishing Guide and Member of the Quinault Indian Nation.

“If a simple majority in the Senate can now cynically overturn science, public input, legal precedent & opposition from sportsmen nationwide to strip administrative protection from the Boundary Waters, they can do it anywhere, including here on the Olympic Peninsula. We continue to stand with all those continuing the fight to protect the Boundary Waters & our , even as we redouble our efforts to pass Wild Olympics this congress before it’s too late. The future of on the Peninsula depends on it.”

FIGHT BACK:

SIGN the WildOlympics.org/wild-olympics-petition telling Congress the Wild Olympics aren’t for sale & to permanently protect public lands & salmon streams for our future.

🚨PRESS RELEASE: Sportsmen for Wild Olympics Release Map in Defense of Olympic Peninsula Public Lands, Call for Permanent Protection Instead Of Stripping Safeguards From Key Trophy Fishing Headwaters in Washington State. The group is opposing repeal of the Roadless Rule & is calling on Congress to pass U.S. Senator Patty Murray & Emily Randall’s Act as a proactive solution to permanently protect these lands.

“This map tells Congress and the Administration: protect the Olympic Peninsula’s public lands—don’t privatize or develop them,” said Ashley-Nichole Lewis of Bad Ash Outdoors, a Quinault Indian Nation fishing guide and spokesperson for Sportsmen for Wild Olympics. “It gives our fellow sportsmen and women something to fight for, not just against—a lasting solution to threats we are confronting right now.”

The urgency comes as the Trump Administration announced a short three-week comment period until Sept 19th to rescind the Roadless Rule, a key federal safeguard for undeveloped backcountry areas across national forests, including Olympic National Forest.

“Rescinding the Roadless Rule is yet another attempt to hand over our essential public resources to special interests—at the expense of salmon, clean water, hunting and fishing and future generations,” Lewis said.
