Star Dance Studio was founded in San Francisco, California, in 1950 by Ruth Jevarian. A short time later, a second location was opened at 10th Avenue and Ortega Street. Happy New Year everyone!
We are enjoying this 75th Anniversary dance season of Star Dance Studio. Other than the San Francisco Ballet, I’m pretty sure we are the oldest dance studio in San Francisco!
Celebrations began in September with full classes taught by our long-time and highly experienced faculty, who are warm, kind, and passionate about their work. Though it’s never “work” to them…There’s never a Blue Monday here! Smiling students and parents fill our days. How lucky are we?
As we continue our celebration into 2025, we hope to bring back a good number of our alumni for the June 13 & 14 dance performances at the Herbst Theatre. We'll reach out to you in the next week or two, but please, please contact us if you think you might be available for something very special on stage. We'd LOVE to have you come back for this extra special celebration!!

It’s been such an eventful summer with 5 camps, summer ballet intensives and a ton of other fun classes sprinkled in throughout the weeks that time just flew by.
I’m so excited to start the new season and am thrilled to see so many classes filled so quickly. These kids are hungry to dance!! For the adults who are looking to get into dance, we have an amazing program. We offer classes from beginning/intermediate levels of ballet, tap to cardio hip hop dance! This season, we will also be offering workshops on exploring dance further through the adult body. Keep an eye out for those dates!
