A graphologist is a handwriting analysis expert who can take apart the loops and dashes of our penmanship and tell us about out nature. We have a natural curiosity about ourselves. We want to know whether our self-image is the true one. We often think we are capable of seeing another's true nature, but we seem to lack the ability to really know ourselves. In fact, so much about us reveals our disposition and temperament that it can be distressing. The land has taken on the look of Thanksgiving time, of fallen acorns and pecans and walnuts. Now we see the bare branches of oaks like muscled arms lifted toward the sky, and fragrant smoke settles in the valley and hangs like gauzy curtains along the river. In this place is the knowing that there is a Great One, the Great Mystery, the Holy One, the Great Spirit. We can deny this all we want but we know what we know. This place of knowing is at the very center of our being. It is gratifying to know that God cannot leave us. It is said we are spiritual beings trying to be human. Born June 22, 1952, on the Six Nations Reserve in Ohsweken, Ontario, Mr. Greene is a 73 year old FIRST NATIONS Canadian actor who belongs to the ONEIDA tribe. He has worked on stage, in film, and in TV productions in Canada, the U.K., and the U.S.

He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his 1990 performance in "Dances with Wolves". Other films you may have seen him in include Thunderheart, Maverick, Die Hard with a Vengeance, the Green Mile, and Wind River. Graham Greene graduated from the Centre for Indigenous Theatre in 1974 & immediately began performing in professional theatre in Toronto and England, while also working as an audio technician for area rock bands. His TV debut was in 1979 and his screen debut in 1983. His acting career has now spanned over 4 decades & he remains as busy as ever. In addition to the Academy Award nomination for Dance with Wolves, he has been consistently recognized for his work, and also received nominations in 1994, 2000, 2004, 2006, and 2016. Graham Greene lives in Toronto, Canada, married since 1994, and has 1 adult daughter.

OLD STAND SALOON, 1914. Customers bellied-up to the Ekalaka (Montana) bar, since there were no chairs at the counter. At the far right was a selection of ci**rs. A slot machine sat on the counter. A mountain lion was high and toward the right. Spittoons dotted the floor. I was surprised to see overhead electric lights in 1914, before many rural areas had power. Light for the indoor shot was inexplicably well-distributed. Photographer was unknown.
The Saloon was the first building erected at Ekalaka in far SE Montana. In 1885, an old buffalo hunter named Claude Carter was hauling logs to erect a building when he got stuck in mud. He declared, "Any place in Montana is a good place for a saloon," and built his Old Stand Saloon right there. The town grew around it. Text and digital restoration of photo by Gary Coffrin.
