Posey was recently interviewed by Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic and had some interesting takes on the current state of baseball and how he’d like to see it grow.

“But I do hope the game can get back to rewarding guys for doing the smaller things. I think baseball players are probably as talented as ever, right? But if the focus is only on power, it’s a little stagnant to me. Some of these new rules will hopefully create some more action.”

What, exactly, is the plan with J.D. Davis?

Happy Tuesday, San Francisco Giants fans. And more importantly, happy final day of the final month without regular season San Francisco Giants baseball until November. What a thing.

We’re only three games into the spring, but Rule 5 acquisition Blake Sabol is already standing out in a big way. He’s hitting 3-5 with a home run and two doubles. If you were to draw up a script for how Sabol could force his way on the roster despite the Giants seemingly only having one position — backup catcher — open, and Sabol reportedly being greener than a ripe scallion (not to be confused with a rapscallion) at the position, it looks an awful lot like this. Just in, you know, a larger sample.

On Sunday, left-handed pitcher Sean Manaea made his Giants debut. Sure, it was only a Spring Training game, but it was still exciting. Manaea, who inked a two-year, $30 million deal with the Giants over the offseason, started their walk-off win and pitched two innings, issuing three hits and a run while striking out two batters. But the excitement came from the unexpected velocity on his fastball.

We are one day away from spring training baseball games! The San Francisco Giants will take on the Chicago Cubs Saturday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. PT to kick off the Cactus League action. And now we know who will be pitching for the Giants.

Taking the mound for the Giants will be right-hander Tristan Beck. Beck, a California native and Stanford University alumnus, posted a combined 5.25 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 111.1 innings pitched between AA Richmond and AAA Sacramento in 2022.
