⚽ 50 YEARS OF MARIN SOCCER HISTORY ⚽
The Thanksgiving Day Game is celebrating its 50th Anniversary!
These photos are just a small sample of the many players, teams, friendships, stories, and memories that make up more than five decades of Marin soccer history.
As we prepare for this year's historic game, we are putting together a special 50th Anniversary program featuring photos, articles, rosters, stories, and memories from across the years.
We need your help preserving this history.
If you have old team photos, newspaper articles, programs, stories, rosters, or simply a great memory you would like to share, please email us at [email protected].
Not everything will fit into the anniversary program, but we want to collect as much as possible. Additional material will be shared here and preserved as part of the future Marin Soccer History Wiki project currently being developed.
The Thanksgiving Day Game honors the history that came before us, including the Corte Madera Lions, Marin County's first "selected" club team; the MVSC Men's team; The Old Boys / Charlie's Army, who played against them; and the generations of Marin players who followed.
Most importantly, the game continues to honor and remember those we have lost over the decades, many of whom played a major role in building, supporting, and shaping competitive soccer in Marin County.
50 years. Generations of players. Countless stories. One shared Marin soccer history. Thanksgiving Day, Marin Academy High School:
9.30 am Kick off Youth Game
10.20 am Kick off Men's Game (Over 40's Only, First 20 minutes)
If you were part of it, we want to hear from you.
