When you go with a one piece cockpit, you lose out on being able to fine tune handlebar roll and might have to live with some ergonomic compromises. You’re taking a gamble that your head tube angle, stem angle, and drop curvatures will all play nicely.
Here you can see the steep ramp angle from the tops to hoods creating a valley at the back of the hoods. Also the bar ends at the drops are slightly sloping back upwards.
IMO this particular cockpit is just poorly designed. But you come across similar issues across name brand components as well, especially if you’re not on an “average” size bike.

I see three things wrong in this situation…can you name them?

It is unfair to both me and my clients who are booking out over a month or are on the waitlist when we have No-Shows that don’t answer their phone and have their card declined when attempting to charge the no show fee.
I understand things happen, but having this happen twice in two weeks feels fishy to me.
Thanks for understanding.

Why “Fit First” matters: Did you get really get a deal if you have to change out most of the components (seatpost, stem, handlebar, headset cover) on a fully internally routed bike?
Returning customer came in for an N+1 Fit yesterday with this new 1-week old 58cm Cervelo Caledonia-5 that he got 25% off.
We went straight to the fit bike knowing we were limited in testing on the trainer due to the internally routed hoses. What we found based on his previous fit and working on the fit bike was that the 58 was simply too big! Would’ve had to shorten the stem from 110 to 80mm, replace the proprietary -15mm seatpost with a straight one, narrow the bars from 42cm to 40cm, and switch to the lower stack headset cover.
Turns out the newer non-integrated 56cm Caledonia for $200 more came with the latest Rival E1 levers (HUGE upgrade over D2 imo), a straight seatpost, and we could use the stock 100mm stem AND 40cm handlebar. Future servicing and adjustments will be way simpler and affordable as well. The plan is to exchange the bike for the 56cm. Easily saved $1000 in parts and labor!!

Such a wonderful privilege to be able to build such amazing machines!
This big ol’ 61cm S-Works Tarmac SL8 came out to an impressive 17.17lbs with mostly SRAM Force parts and ENVE 4.5s
