For those of you who don’t know- I’ve been thinking about bringing the Jewish Nutcracker 1 more time - World Dance Fusion has been around 20 years and I’m transitioning out of Artistic Director to focus on my new Business Feminine Empress Movement.

Who would be excited about a Jewish Nutcracker 2021?

Performing this last Sat in Union Square as part of Spring India day doing a Haitian piece, a Cuban Haitian piece and having Lunascope a Belly dance group as our guest.

A week from today World Dance Fusion will have It’s only 2020 show as invited guests of HabibiAmor’s Monthly showcase.

Katy and Ksenia will perform a new piece by Haitian choreographer Laure Fleurentin and Katy will dance a solo. At the end she will offer everyone a special gift. So hope you can tune in at 3pm PST on Saturday Nov.21

Hey all- many of you are my personal profile friends on FB. So many of you know I Katy Alaniz Barnhill will be retiring from Dance (as my career). I will also be shifting my personal profile to reflect my new business and directing anyone who is my friend - just for Dance to this page.

On my personal page I posted that I left ODC after teaching there for 10 years after my ballet mentor Augusta Moore passed away. I was snatched up almost immediately to teach weekly at Lines Ballet, but a few weeks after starting my weekly class we went into covid 19 lockdown. I did teach a couple of online classes, but my contract with Lines will end at the end of June.

I know many of you are fans of Jewish Nutcracker as well as World Dance Fusion’s other programming.

I have 3 questions.

1. Would you like me to teach another online World Dance Fusion class through Lines Dance Center before the end of June?

2. Would you like to see a 20th anniversary celebration for World Dance Fusion?

3. Would you like to see the Jewish Nutcracker 1 last time?

Yes Y’all it’s true, I taught my 1st Zoom dance class last Thursday at 5:30 and will be doing it again tomorrow 3/26. This is a 40 min class for $8 through Lines Ballet where I regularly teach World Dance Fusion on Tuesdays- but since nothing is regular now .....

I’ll also be teaching 2 sixty min classes on Tuesday morning 3/30 from 9:30 (west coast) and 4/2 At 6pm.

Im thinking of having the Tuesday morning one be -Ballet with Booties (tell me what you think)

Update on the new WorldDanceFusion class at Lines Ballet. Our start date has been pushed back 1 week. So starting Tuesday 2/18 from 6-7:30 at 26 7th street (5th floor) you can come shake it with me. I will take requests for dance styles the first couple of weeks, and also start teaching some choreography. This class is to embrace that we are all dancers- regardless of style- or the amount of time you’ve spent with your body. ❤️ come enjoy it.

NEW CLASS.. I finally left ODC after 10 years and Lines Ballet has been after me to teach a World Dance Fusion class- so it’s happening starting next Tuesday 2/11 from 6-7:30 you can learn my awesome warm-up that gets you ready to do any kind of dance.... but wait there’s more.

I’ll also be opening up the class to my other Fine Artists at World Dance Fusion meaning- they will teach my warm-up and then dive into their specialities including Kathak, DanceHall, Capoeira, Flamenco, Salsa and more- yes you can get this all in 1 class just make sure you’re able to attend Tuesdays and we’ll make you fall in love with the world of dance.

Technically it is still the 4th in San Francisco, where I am from and the area that my Guruji Pdt. Chitresh Das left us all behind. I was in Kolkata (his place of birth) for the last month and had the opportunity to be a part of something magical by teaching the Children of The red light district in Kolkata their first Kathak lesson. And teaching a female empowerment through movement workshop to their working mothers. I also had the opportunity to visit one of Dadaji's senior most disciples at Choudhary house, and see her perform on the day she received an award for her 25 plus years of study with him. The year that we lost him I lost many other important teachers in my life. Including La Faraona 2015 was a lesson for us all to step in to the new and scary roll of being a teacher. We will always continue to learn, but we have to share what we know.
