University of San Francisco's Sport Management Master's Program provides professional preparation for management and leadership positions with professional sports teams, intercollegiate and intramural athletics and recreation programs at colleges and universities and amateur athletic organizations. Profession preparation is also given for careers in private and public health and fitness clubs, corporate fitness and wellness programs, sports stadia and arenas, and the sports marketing, management and communications firms that service the larger marketplace. Identical program and curriculum are offered at campuses in both San Francisco and the Los Angeles Area.

A summer internship with the Golden State Warriors gave Dwayne Pittman III ’27 an inside look at the business behind one of the NBA’s most recognized organizations.

Working within corporate partnerships, Dwayne saw firsthand how the Warriors collaborate with brands and bring partnerships to life throughout the organization. From contributing to partnership initiatives to learning how relationships are built and maintained, his summer offered a closer look at the strategy that happens beyond the court.

New Director of Athletics Brent Blaylock officially shared his vision for the future of the Dons, highlighting the importance of the student-athlete experience, developing leaders, competing for championships, and strengthening USF Athletics’ connection to the San Francisco community.

“We want to become the very best version of USF athletics that we can be.”

In his tenure, Blaylock seeks to embrace what makes USF unique. “We’re not trying to become somebody else.” His vision includes building upon USF’s history and traditions while also adapting to the changing landscape of college athletics through innovation, new revenue opportunities, stronger engagement, and continued investment in student-athletes.

With more than 20 years of experience across collegiate and professional sports, Blaylock brings a new perspective to the Hilltop while making it clear that USF’s identity will remain at the center of what comes next.

USF Sport Management Alum Named Director of Athletics!

Congratulations to Shondell Reed ’03 on being appointed Director of Athletics at Cal State Fullerton! 👏

Reed brings more than 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics administration, including leadership roles at Air Force Academy, University of Washington, and Colgate University. He now returns to his undergraduate alma mater, Cal State Fullerton, to lead Titan Athletics.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Reed continues to stay connected to USF as a member of the Sport Management Advisory Board, helping support the program and future generations of sport industry professionals.
