While we all figure out what to do, today many small businesses are dealing with not paying rent.

Landlords are asking for rent, because they need to pay utilities and mortgages. You’d Assume someone owning a building would have money set aside for emergencies but that’s not always the case. It’s the same as many individuals & small businesses who weren’t prepared for this.

There are loans to keep employees employed. There are tax forgiveness opportunities. In CA they have EDD Work Share. We need governors to speak up about evictions for small businesses.

Small businesses, Reach out to your local nonprofits who are raising funds for Covid relief and see what opportunities you can tap into.

The loans are tricky and not great for all small businesses. The EDD work-share is not great for large businesses. Do research or let me know if there is a specific question you might have. I’m happy to help.

Furloughed or Laid Off: Are still eligible to apply for benefits. The amount you get paid is based on the states eligibility & calculation factors.

With state + federal $ eligible individuals could make more not working, if they make under 30k a year. Be mindful when you ask your team to come back to work. Many large retailers are paying a higher COVID hrly rate during this time to incentive workers to come in.

Furlough versus Lay-off: it’s tricky. A business can call it a furlough but if they do not give a return to work, in some states within a certain number of days, you’re no longer an employee of that business in some respects.

Businesses should understand and define what their obligations is to ensure they are communicating the correct definition to Affected team member.

A- donate what you can.
B - be mindful of who you give your money to. C - Check there investment back into the cause. D - Give your time if money is tight, it’s just as valuable.

Big business isn’t good business for the masses. Think about the hard work small businesses owners invest in their work. Let’s invest in them. Much more fulfilling than investing in someone else’s yacht/ people shouldn’t be begging for $15 an hr for hourly workers, from rich giants. #-
