That brings the league to 12 teams just 3 seasons after it’s launch. Detroit gets Hockeytown back in the spotlight, Hamilton finally lands a pro women’s team of its own, Vegas adds another major league franchise to its sports empire, and San Jose gives the PWHL a huge foothold in California and the Bay Area.

Your 2026 Walter Cup champions: Montréal Victoire 🏆

Montréal finished atop the regular season standings, built around one of the league’s stingiest defensive records and strong goaltending from Ann-Renée Desbiens. They carried that identity into the playoffs, winning a hard semifinal series against the two-time defending champion Minnesota Frost, a physical opponent, before taking the Walter Cup behind structured play, depth scoring, and timely special teams ex*****on in the Finals.

Montréal opened the Walter Cup Finals with a dramatic 3-2 overtime win in Game 1, followed it up with another win at home to take a 2-0 series lead, then responded after the Ottawa Charge pushed the series to a fourth game with a dominant 4-0 shutout victory to secure the franchise’s first Walter Cup title.
