One week until Moscleyne’s HATCHERY workshop!

Bay Area folks might recognize Moscelyne for her work as the Resident Choreographer for Post:ballet where she most recently created this masterpiece, Magma. Lauded as “hot and dangerous” (SFClassical Voice), “wildly ambitious”(SFChronicle), and a “modern day masterpiece” (SF Arts), the evening-length work featured nine dancers of Post:ballet, live music by dj.ari.b, choreography and text by Moscelyne ParkeHarrison, and projections by Shana ParkeHarrison.

Magma was the result of a two-year creative process similar to the structure of her upcoming HATCHERY workshop. You’re invited to join her next week for an incubation process for her latest project, sleeper hit!

This workshop is ideal for dancers interested in embodied research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and deepening their personal virtuosity through character, style, and self-expression.

How does fashion help develop characters in dance theater?
👠🥼🎩🕶️👘👡🧥

Moscelyne ParkeHarrison (, , ) invites you to explore this and more at her upcoming HATCHERY workshop, as she researches material for her latest work, “sleeper hit!” Working in collaboration with a stylist, this workshop will center fashion as an entry point into identity, presence, and performative selfhood. Garments will serve as the foundation for a devised process that investigates individuality and collectivity, revealing how we come to be seen by others and by ourselves.

Tomorrow is the last day of our JUNE BLOOM match 🌸

A generous donor has been matching every donation to our Hold the Ground campaign dollar for dollar this week (available through Sunday night only). Whatever you give, they’ll match it, up to $2,500 total.

Donate at the link in bio — tax-deductible through Dancers’ Group, and every donor is entered in our t-shirt draw.

And if now doesn’t work: our Hold the Ground campaign is still open through July 1. We’re raising $25,000 to carry ttgsf into year two, and every contribution between now and then counts. The match just makes this week a little sweeter.

Thank you for being part of this.

“The Training Ground seems committed not simply to producing technically polished dancers, but curious ones who embrace risk. That distinction matters. Contemporary dance increasingly asks performers to be creators, collaborators, and thinkers in addition to being athletes and technicians. This showcase suggested these dancers are already becoming all three.”

Swipe for excerpts of local dance critic Kristen Crosby’s reflections on our recent performances, The GroundWorks. Our deepest thanks to Kristen for taking the time to show up, watch closely, and write with such care.

NEW DATES: JULY 19-23

Due to a scheduling conflict, the dates of Incubation 4 with Babatunji have shifted slightly to Sunday, July 19, through Thursday, July 23. Enrolled students will be notified via email about this change.

Babatunji’s HATCHERY workshop, “Activating Found Spaces,” will explore site-responsive choreography in partnership with Roar Shack Live, culminating in a performance at their space on July 23. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to create with an incredibly special Oakland-based artist who brings a unique movement language and extensive experience across stage, film, and public spaces to his work.
