Mukunda Studio is expanding!
Moving beyond the current 1,400 sq ft space
to a 5,000 sq ft space!!!
We are taking a BIG LEAP of confidence to build a bigger offering of yoga and well-being in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re expanding in this beautiful new space to continue to elevate the topic of well-being amongst community. And it will be with community support that we thrive!
This new space will start as a shared space for several years with the intention of Mukunda Studio utilizing the full 5,000 sq ft over time. Mukunda Studio will be the sole public facing business by the grace and generosity of a friend/current landlord/soon to be co-tenant who has truly helped make all of this possible.
ALL CLASSES CONTINUE@ 1250 FOLSOM STREET THRU MAY!!
Then on Tuesday, June 2nd, we aim to be ready for Marc’s 9am class as the first yoga class at 1228 Folsom Street. We have a lot to do until then, but with a steady, focused pace and your help, we will start this new chapter in our new home together.
If you’d like to help with the transition, join one or both of our Community Moving Days!
THIS Sunday - May 24th from 12-6pm
Saturday, May 30th from 12-6pm
Just show up anytime or register with the class schedule link in bio.

Mukunda means “Giver of liberation” in Sanskrit. I feel blessed to have been given this spiritual name by my teachers as something to deeply practice and contemplate. It held such significance, that I chose this name for the studio.
As we approach the annual holidays to recognize liberation in various traditions and religions, and as we understand so much happening in the world where some fight for liberation at the expense of others, I continue to envision a world space where we work to understand how our personal and collective liberation are intertwined. The mission of Mukunda Studio remains: Empower the Movers of Human Kindness. I see a better world, a better space, a better home, will exist for all.

10 of our 28 practitioners are new to the fair with the others returning for a second or even 14th time.!! We’ve brought a diverse team together to remind folks the value of honoring well-being.
Sometimes, we come to expect the wellness industry to be scaffolding that supports our life of chaos. We hope for that magic spell or that magic potion to help us keep going at the pace we’re going without having to truly look at the source of our pain, the actual source of our stress. When we talk about well-being, this is a natural pathway to understand humanity.
When we are connecting with our true nature, there’s a natural affinity for one another, a natural affinity for the planet and to our personal and collective well-being. It’s simple. The complication is working our way out of the trance of the industrial complex and war machine to recall the potential of lite on this planet.
As all colonizing efforts have shown us, the “us versus them” paradigm or the binary worldview is very strong and triggers our nervous system into believing that safety is only available for some and that this planet is only enjoyable for some. We need a new dream, a new model, and a new effort that breaks down this divisive effort that essentially aims to hoard natural resources of the earth, dissolves innate aspects of humanity, strips away diverse cultures, and forces us to be constantly seeking for something to fill the emptiness that results.
Certainly a tall order but it seems the polycrisis that intersects near and far, reflects the need for everyone to examine and contemplate. It’s our efforts of the Well-being Fair to add an ingredient in the awakening of our highest selves. Understand the fears and forces who fuel them, and find strength in community that wish for a
remembering of our true nature. Join for a day of joy as resistance.

Mukunda Studio held a soft opening on February 14, 2020. Things were ready for the grand opening to take place on March 21, 2020. That was 6 years ago and thanks to my landlord, friends, students, clients, community, zoom, and all the powers that wish for good in this world, is still standing!
Honoring love in its many dimensions - this day is one of faith and the power and strength of loving and kind community - these are stronger forces than anything that wishes to oppress or dominate. As we never know what will happen tomorrow, celebrating today for all that it uplifts.
From today’s newsletter by Marc Morozumi:
Staying Strong Together!
The 6-year anniversary in a relationship is considered the Iron Anniversary - a trusted, solid foundation has been built. Clear signs of strength, durability and resilience are present. Mukunda Studio has been a magical culmination of my life path and I’m wildly grateful for the relationships I’ve built with all of you!!!
I always reflect deeply after Cincinnati trips and truly feel I’ve been guided by a compassionate hand. This recent trip had its challenges AND reminded me that every joyful and difficult step has made me who I am. I am a courageous, resourced, proudly gay, spiritual activist because of it! Though the world feels upside down in many ways, I feel right side up on this journey.
On 2/14/2020 I held a soft opening at the studio. I feel blessed as I reflect on what has been created thanks to all of you - a bond filled with love.
Let’s stay connected, Marc

Join us for a joyful and meaningful way to celebrate this day. It’s a holiday of gathering with friends and family, while also a day that is best honored by recognizing our real history versus a convenient version that minimizes our actual journey. It seems we can get attached to the abbreviated stories and miss out on the nuance that generates true peace and harmony - by remembering versus erasing.

Visit Mukunda Studio during these hectic end-of-year weeks for Hatha Flow w/Marc Morozumi! A conscious pause for a Hatha practice in our tranquil oasis in West SOMA may help you manage the day, even your week better. And livestream works to connect with us too! (Photos from last weekend’s Saturday and Sunday classes.)
We get into habit-mode during our busiest times and being mindful gets more challenging. Building a body/mind practice that has evidence-based benefits on your mental health offers a way to develop new habits that ultimately serve you and those around you. A grounded and authentic you, shifting away from the unconscious trance of materialism and othering, makes way for a world that is vibrant, equitable, and kind. More of that please.
