We are not the survival of the fittest. We are the survival of the nurtured.”

I was always “swimming upstream” at traditional Pilates studios. I’d turn off the music, I’d teach things at 1/2...okay, maybe 1/4...of the usual pace, I’d dive deeper into 3 or 5 exercises instead of 15 or 20, and I almost never taught the classical repertoire. We’d breathe. For a while. We’d feel. All the time. And we won’t even talk about the amount of props strewn all over the floor. Teaching in this way, I built a community around Post-rehab and alignment-oriented work. , embodiment, embodiment.
It didn’t always fit in with the traditional Pilates environment. So I knew 3 years ago that I needed to be in charge of creating “the current” in a Pilates studio instead of swimming against one all the time.
After finding and fighting for my first wonderful home here on 20th street, I was faced with the daunting question of giving it a name. I was hesitant to use “Pilates” in it to avoid some big ideas and assumptions about what my work looked like. Then my brother asked, “have you thought about the number 20?” “Those born under the influence of the number 20 incarnate to be of service to souls who are ailing and in need of help. Such individuals bring spiritual upliftment and guidance and live the humanitarian ideals. The keyword is ‘Universal Service.’” That was the first thing that google told me. And the research and my excitement with by my side, just got better and better from there. So the number 20 stuck. I used it as grounding and inspiration. And now I’m surrounded by practitioners of a few different modalities who all stand behind a purpose relating to helping people get well and thrive in their physical and emotional bodies...who all want to be of service. So no matter where we go, 20 is coming with us. It’s been creating the best kind of current to swim in:)

to many, many months ago when this picture was taken and I was claiming that I was going to step in to social media. 😬 The universe just has other plans for you sometimes! 🤷🏼♀️🙈 But I’m finally here—Caitlin—owner of Studio 20. 👋🏻🙋🏼♀️
I’m an ex-dancer, fitness lover, and incredibly sensitive, deep-feeling type
of strong woman. And it’s the latter that I bring in to my Pilates
teaching. After years and years of pushing myself physically and
emotionally beyond healthy points, I found myself turning away from
the “normal” Pilates exercise regime and towards something that was more about subtlety and embodiment. I am passionate about
helping people find functional stabilization for healing and
pain-free, active living. But I might be even more passionate about making people feel safe, “right-sized,” and powerful at every moment. I didn’t always have that type of teacher when I needed it. So I try to be that type of teacher every day.

If only I had worn white pants. Then I could really hashtag here!So close! 😉🙈 But this photo still reminds me of how my collaboration with is a beautiful coming together of two seemingly opposing movement worlds to create something much stronger. We strive to create balance--in bodies, minds, and movement. And we've been told our voices are pretty complementary too😂. Hope to share "The New R&R" and a super restorative afternoon with you again on October 14th from 1-4. DM me for details and questions!

Major Sunday gratitude for the beautiful relaunch of The New R&R with yesterday. We explored the length, width, and depth of our bodies for the most restorative afternoon. Loving our community and how they value presence, subtlety, and connection as much as we do. Can't wait for the next one!

I think we may have a New R&R workshop coming up....

"The New R&R" is back! And we just can't wait. We have so missed teaching together. We have missed our classrooms. We have missed our students. And we have so missed getting all nerdy about how our unique approaches to Pilates and yoga can create the most beautiful sequences to reset and repattern bodies and minds.
The countdown is on! July 15th 1-4pm. DM me for details:). 🎉
