Thanks Andriana for giving me a massive hair love-up 💇🏻♀️

If I haven't told you yet, I'm officially writing a book! Bedtime for Garbanzo is scheduled for its official launch in April of 2027 🎉🎉🎉
It's incredible to go through the editorial phase of my first book with June and Philip at Readers to Eaters. Their support and education about the process, their enthusiasm, and their collaboration has been such a joy.
Now that we have preliminary thumbnails from our incredible illustrator, I'm playing with order and word choice (and doing a bad job of the age old adage, "write with whiskey, edit with coffee." 😅).
I can't wait to share more details as the book comes together 📚❤️

The world has lost a little bit of light. Mark was such a generous human, a caring friend, and a mischievous and lovely soul. We first met when he came to my class six and a half years ago and we struck up a foreign candy exchange program (I know for certain I got the better end of the bargain when I received rhubarb sours in exchange for a box of peeps).
Our friendship evolved beyond the mat, especially when we both took emergency trips home to be with our fathers when they were both in the hospital - we ended up being in SFO at the same time. I hate that we both had to pick up and be there for our loved ones, but I will always be grateful to Mark for being the person I could text from the hospital, the person who just *got it*, who was also navigating nurses and fear and powerlessness in the face of the unknown.
A million memories would not be enough. I will never forget our walks, our texts, the genuine vulnerability and honesty that he shared with me every time we talked. I'll remember his "I'm up to something" mischievous laugh, all his small acts of thoughtful care, and his deep dislike of oranges for their level of pith (always expressed while handing me a mandarin, or a clementine, or a tangelo, or some other don't-call-it-an-orange).
I warned you constantly that I would get scurvy without you. What am I to do now?
Mark, I love you and I'll miss you. I'll keep you in my memory by finally watching all those random movies you sent me trailers of, by eating a clementine after class, by looking at the drawing you gifted me that hangs proudly over my altar, being unafraid to express myself in my purest form of weird.
If you think your voice doesn't matter, it does.
If you think "just one vote" isn't enough, you haven't paid attention.
If you think this isn't your fight because it's happening somewhere else, think again.
Take action: call or email your senators and demand that ICE be defunded, find your local Rapid Response Network and get whistle trained, donate if you can to the Minneapolis RRN or your local immigrant justice nonprofit, learn your 1st and 4th amendment rights.
Action is the remedy for despair, and the time for action is now.
At 6pm today, 48 hours after it started, I got done teaching advanced anatomy to an incredible room of yogis. They spent 17 hours listening to me talking about bones and joint spaces and muscles and fascia, and let me go off on a tangent about the history of medical cadavers in London. To call it an honor would sell it short.
This weekend I got *paid* to be the weird kid who loves bones. Every week I get to nerd out about this stuff in small and big ways, and people don't show up to my classes in spite of my weirdness, but because of it.
Say yes to being the weirdo. Buy the skeleton. Cry with joy and wonder about the beauty of our human body. You never know where you'll end up.
I'm so excited to announce that I'm officially teaching a 200 hour teacher training!!! It's been almost 5 years since the last time I taught one, and this one is bigger and better than ever before.
Why you ask?
- Because for the first time I'm officially co-leading the training. That means more connection, more sharing, more getting to nerd out about what I love.
- Because it means I get back to teaching with my friend and mentor !
- And because this time, we're heading to Thailand 🏖️
Want to join us? We're hosting an info session this Saturday at 1pm!! DM me for the details, or check the links in my bio for all the info. I can't wait to share this with you!!!

Josephine Baker Johnson Gainfair crossed the rainbow bridge today. She died as she lived, crawling into my hair in my hoodie and generally making the vet's job harder.
Jo was always dramatic, and responded to her nickname of "Josephine, Drama Queen" by screaming at the top of her lungs up until the very end. I'll miss her perpetual lying about whether she'd had breakfast, her joyful chewing on the bottom of the couch, the way she would lead Marcus on a merry chase when he tried to get her back into her cage (but always met me by the door when I came home from a walk and demanded snacks).
Jo was a pig's pig through and through, and I'll miss her fearless escape artistry, her shaking her cage bars endlessly, her gleeful toppling over of her toys, and her constant assumption that it was dinner time. At least she's with Fred now, harassing her sister and stealing cilantro from her mouth in the afterlife.
Hug your pets tonight for me - you never know how quickly they can go.
When this box arrived my husband looked at me and said, "Is it more bones??" I have no defense and zero rebuttal. Yes, it's more bones. No, I don't know where I'll store it. Yes, I may cuddle with it tonight in bed 😅
I can't wait to share all my visual aides during Holistic Anatomy the first weekend in December. If you want to meet my pelvic floor model (and, you know, better understand anatomy through movement), there's still spots available!
