Om” (or “aum”) is considered the primordial sound in yogic and Vedic tradition 🧡the vibration said to underlie all of creation, often described as the sound of the universe itself. In Sanskrit, it’s written as three phonetic parts (A-U-M) representing creation, preservation, and dissolution, with the silence after the chant representing the transcendent state beyond those three.

In practice, it’s used as a mantra 🕉️ chanted to focus the mind, mark a beginning or ending, and create a felt sense of unity or stillness in the room. One breath. One sound. One Om.

In Baptiste yoga, we practice Drishti — a focused gaze. Eyes on your own mat. Attention on your own breath.

Not because what’s around you doesn’t matter. But because the moment you start measuring yourself against the person next to you, you’ve left your own practice.

The comparison mind will always find someone further ahead. The present mind knows: you’re in the perfect room to get inspired.

That’s the difference. That’s the work.
