A Few Bulletproof Tips for Maintaining Accomplished Weight Loss and Fitness Results
Once most people achieve their weight loss and fitness gains, they often enter a maintenance phase where the primary goal is to avoid reversing those accomplishments. Unfortunately, keeping the weight off and staying fit is easier said than done. If you want to maintain the results you've earned, these simple tips will serve you well.
Monitor Your Health Statistics
People who avoid gaining weight once they've lost it tend to be pretty aggressive when it comes to documenting their health metrics. Weighing yourself every few days will give you a good read on whether or not you're trending in a positive direction. If possible, check your blood pressure and heart rate regularly as well.
Develop a Reasonable Exercise Regimen
It's difficult to get back into the swing of things after you've abandoned an exercise routine. That's why it's so important to go for a jog every day even if you don't feel like it. Whether your exercise of choice is yoga, cycling or shadowboxing, sticking with the program will ensure that unwanted pounds don't reappear.
Put an Emphasis on Lean Muscle Development
The best way to guarantee that your fat loss doesn't reverse itself is by building muscle to ensure a higher metabolism. Muscle requires many more calories per pound than fat to maintain. You don't have to bulk up to make sure that your metabolism fires on all cylinders. Simply doing crunches, pull-ups and push-ups should work.
Never Skip Breakfast
Long story short, eating a good meal first thing in the morning will prevent imprudent snacking later on in the day. Furthermore, a balanced breakfast will enable a person to better control blood glucose during the crucial productive hours of the day. The high-fiber nature of common breakfast foods promotes solid digestion and regularity.
Make Protein a Major Component of Your Diet
If you want a healthier lifestyle over the long haul, consuming more protein can confer a variety of benefits. For one thing, it can lead to greater fat loss without any extra effort. That's because higher protein intake produces hormones that reduce the desire to eat. The human body burns more calories breaking down protein than carbohydrates.
Take Active Measures to Manage Stress
High levels of stress will produce elevated levels of cortisol in most people. Higher cortisol levels invariably lead to a number of undesirable conditions like greater fat retention as well as an increased appetite. When many people feel stressed, they eat impulsively as a form of self medication. Meditation and positive thinking can alleviate stress and reduce the likelihood of overeating.
Always Get a Good Night's Rest
When you don't sleep well, you're more likely to break your healthy diet rules by snacking right before bedtime. Irregular sleep can result in higher levels of ghrelin, a hormone that produces hunger pangs. What's more, lousy sleep can reduce leptin levels. As a consequence, the ability to control food cravings is highly diminished.
The Linchpin of Maintaining Accomplished Health Results
Ultimately, it's nearly impossible to maintain fitness and weight loss results without a positive mental attitude. A good support system comprised of family members and friends is often the foundation upon which long-term health is built. If you have good people around you, it's a lot easier to make the most of the tips outlined above.

It Really Is That Simple To Create Lasting Changes
You will be really surprised to know that we are not born with a healthy lifestyle. It is something we learn, and if you want to change your life, then it is up to you to start living more healthily. Let me discuss how important it is to live a healthier lifestyle, what steps need to be taken in order for this change to happen, and why this needs to happen now.
This is not just about weight loss or becoming healthier; it’s about creating healthy habits and holistic change that will make you feel great.
The first thing to consider when changing your lifestyle is if this healthy way of living really aligns with who you are as an individual, what do you like doing? For example, if the idea of exercising makes you want to curl up into a ball and cry then perhaps this isn’t for you but there must be something that appeals more than sitting on the couch watching TV all day. What I am trying to say here is self-analysis! If we were meant to lead such unhealthy lifestyles from birth why have so many people been able to successfully adopt these changes in their lives? Still, having bad thoughts about exercise? Just think, "I get to exercise and as a result, I have more energy."
We need to look at our own lifestyles and assess which areas we can change in order for us to live healthier lives. It is important here that you do not try and make too many changes all at once; it will be overwhelming for you. The first step could be something like adding one piece of fruit into your daily meal plan or drinking three glasses of water throughout the day instead of tea/coffee etc., easy! Then every week you add another healthy habit until you are living the lifestyle you want with no room left (or time) for unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking excessively etc. This could take anywhere from six months to a year depending on how quickly you are able to adopt new habits but it is well worth the wait.
If your main concern is losing weight then I suggest starting with adding healthy foods into your daily diet and cutting out sugary, fatty treats as these will be much more effective than exercise for example when trying to lose excess body fat. When we exercise we burn calories which can actually make us hungrier; this is because our bodies need energy in order for us to carry out certain bodily functions at all times including our muscles contracting during exercises such as running or cycling etc. Losing body fat isn’t just about eating less food (although that also helps) there needs to be an increase throughout the day too. You could add high fibre, low-calorie foods such as vegetables into your diet in order to reach the targets you need.
If we are not eating enough throughout the day then our bodies can start holding onto fat cells which will make it harder for us to lose weight and even if we do manage to burn off some of these excess fat cells they could refill quickly so this isn't a long term solution either. It is important that we look after ourselves by giving our body what it needs and deserves including a healthy lifestyle with plenty of exercises but also making sure we are providing adequate nutrients too. Just remember, slow changes over time rather than trying something extreme like starting an intense workout regime or drastically cutting down on calories all once because chances are you will only end up quitting after a couple of days and this isn’t good for your body either.
How To Maintain Discipline In Your Diet
Maintaining discipline in your diet is not easy; there will be times when you want to quit and this can happen for a multitude of reasons. This may sound like it's going to be the hardest part but I promise that if you have managed so far then this won't last too long either! When we initially start our journey towards living healthier lives we are filled with motivation, willpower and determination which helps us through those first few weeks/months etc. Unfortunately though, as time goes on these feelings tend to dwindle or fade away entirely making it more difficult than ever before to maintain healthy eating habits without slipping back into old ways (i.e. comfort eating). It is important during these times and throughout the entire process that we remain positive.
If you are finding it difficult to maintain discipline in your diet because of a lack of motivation then I suggest taking some time out from thinking about food constantly, after all, there is more going on in life than just eating! For example: go out with friends for something other than dinner or make sure when you cook at home that meals look appetising by using different colour vegetables etc., this will help prevent boredom too. If people ask why you’ve stopped drinking alcohol say ‘I want to be healthier plus I have a headache afterwards anyway so no point wasting money!’ This may seem like an obvious thing but most people don't do it; instead, they make up excuses such as needing alcohol to have fun or that it relaxes them.
When we eat, our bodies release serotonin which is a chemical responsible for making us feel good and happy; this happens naturally but only after eating certain foods though so looking at healthier alternatives rather than reaching out for comfort food can help too! If you’re finding yourself lacking motivation then try writing down why you want to make these changes in your life on paper (including all the benefits) and even put pictures of what healthy living looks like with motivational quotes etc., next time you open up your fridge/cupboards instead of those unhealthy snacks go straight to where they are stored and read everything again. However small, doing things like this will help maintain discipline in your diet.
If you are finding it difficult to maintain discipline in your diet because of a lack of willpower then try using something called cue extinction which is when we remove the stimuli that cause us to act out certain behaviours; this might mean not purchasing unhealthy food and drink so there isn’t anything available or even avoiding places where temptation will be greater. This means if you are out for tea with friends and there is cake on the menu avoid going to that place again because it will only set you back.
Do Diets And Fitness Programs Work
If you are looking to excel in a fitness program the best thing that you can do is to make sure that you have smart goals. You need to have realistic, attainable short-term and long-term goals. This will help you keep your eye on the prize when every muscle in your body is telling you that it is time to give up. You also need to have the right mindset going in. You can not have a negative outlook on your fitness program. It is just not going to work for you. If you have the right mindset and some smart goals, then your fitness program will be a success.
Breaking Bad Habits
There are many different types of "bad" habits, but they all share one thing:
They take up space in your head. They occupy valuable mental real estate, eating away at your brainpower and making you less capable of doing the things that really matter to you.
Bad habits aren't just about what we do with our bodies. They are also about what we do with our minds. The way you think can suffocate your potential and limit the vast possibilities of your life.
You can't have a positive life if all you see is negative, and that's why bad habits must be broken. So how do you break them? Well, to answer that question, you first have to understand how they form.
Understanding the formation of bad habits will help you break them. It's about making a clear distinction between what is important and what isn't, and getting rid of everything that hinders your mental development.

We can not make any changes to the way we look or feel unless we commit and act. Stop saying that diets and exercise programs do not work. They all do! The problem is that you do not follow through. Knowledge does not equal results. To get results you have to put all you know into action otherwise you are nothing but a dreamer....
So rather than sitting and complaining about how hard it is to lose weight, and make all the excuses that you can possibly come up with, just do what you know needs to be done. That is it. DECIDE AND COMMIT. Stick to a diet plan or exercise program or both. Change the habits that you know are making you fat. Become excited about your life and enjoy the results in the process.
Here to help.

2020 was a time of many changes. Just when I thought I would have to shut down my business, a new idea popped in my head...I decided to expand my knowledge and learn more about adaptive fitness and corrective exercise. I am so happy that I am now able to serve athletes who battle physical disabilities, injuries and/or autoimmune diseases. All of that slows many down but there are many who are highly motivated and ready to work. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to serve so many amazing people. You all challenge me on so many levels, and I love that all of you are so very different. That allows me to become a better trainer and a better person. My promisse to you is that I will not stop. I will continue to learn so that you can continue to see results and continue to accomplish new goals.
