“Wait… aren’t you worried that one leg is going to get bigger?” 😂
One of my fellow trainers asked me this while I was training my good leg, and honestly… great question! 😅
Will there probably be some temporary asymmetry? Absolutely.
But right now, my priority is keeping my healthy leg as strong as possible while my injured leg is healing.
There’s a concept called cross-education, where training one limb can create neural adaptations that carry over to the opposite limb. Research suggests unilateral training can help reduce strength loss in an immobilized limb. Even when that limb isn’t being trained directly. 🧠💪🏽
So yes… I might have one leg looking a little more jacked than the other for a while 👌🏽😂
I’ll take temporary asymmetry over unnecessary strength loss.
This injury has taught me that training doesn’t always have to look the way you’re used to. Sometimes you just have to get creative, work with what you have, and keep moving forward.
Injured ≠ inactive.
There’s a way to train in almost every season.
If there’s a will, there’s a way. 🙏🏽
