Practicing swim skills between lessons can help children feel more comfortable and confident in the water—even at home! 🛁💙
Use these ideas at home to keep your child practicing what they’ve learned at AVAC.
In the tub 🛁:
Blow bubbles through the mouth and nose to build comfort with breath control and face submersion.
Encourage gentle water pouring over the back of the head and face during bath time to build water confidence. 💦
Outside practice:
✏️ Practice floating postures (starfish and pencil shapes) flat on the floor
💪 Practice freestyle arm circles standing up to reinforce full extension and coordination 💪
Every small repetition at home leads to a bigger splash of confidence during lesson day. See you at AVAC!

Back to school, back to swim! 🎒🏊
Starting or returning to swim lessons is an exciting step, and a little preparation can help make the first day feel comfortable, positive, and fun.
Here’s our checklist to help your child get ready:
✅ Pack a comfortable swimsuit, goggles, a towel, and shower essentials, especially the often-forgotten hairbrush!
✅ Don’t forget a post-lesson snack. If you do, you can grab a bite at our Cantina!
✅ Tie back long hair or bring a swim cap.
✅ Arrive early to allow time to change, use the restroom, and become familiar with our facilities.
✅ Forgot something? Our store has (almost) everything you need!
✅ Review our pool safety rules together, such as no running on the pool deck.
Most importantly, remind your child that learning takes practice, and encourage them to listen to their instructor, try their best, and have fun.
Confidence in the water grows one lesson at a time. 💙
SAVE this for your child’s first day back at AVAC Swim School!
