We are so pleased to host Kathy Van Patten at the end of the month for a GYROTONIC® Apprentice Review and our founder Shannon will be assisting her! This course is part of the GYROTONIC® Foundation Course and is for GYROTONIC® Apprentices ready to prepare for GYROTONIC® Level 1 Certification.

It’s open to all GYROTONIC® Apprentices, regardless of whether you practice at our studio! Kathy is a phenomenal instructor with decades of experience so you will be in great hands if you are ready for the next chapter in your journey!

Group classes have been requested for YEARS at our studio but we didn’t want to offer them until we were sure we could offer them in a way that meets our high standard for instruction and personalized care! Classes are limited to only 4 people and we require 3-5 private sessions at our studio before you take classes. Here’s our weekly schedule ⬇️

Friday 10am - Pilates Mat Class w/ Rebecca Nugent or Sarah Stevens
Friday 6:30pm - Classical Pilates Reformer “Healthy Happy Hour” with Violet Kong
Saturday 8am: Classical Pilates Reformer with Sarah Stevens
Saturday 3pm: GYROTONIC® Pulley Tower with Sarah Stevens

We stand by this belief: bodies deserve more than one-size-fits-all workouts!
Reformer classes can be amazing but your body might need more support or a different apparatus could completely change an exercise for you. We teach to the body in front of us—always have & always will!

Pilates and strength training go together beautifully! Strength training loads the bones while Pilates focuses on smaller stabilizing muscles like deep core and hip stabilizers that often get neglected. Classical Pilates can add so much value to your form while weight training.

Stronger stabilizers mean better joint support, which helps your bigger muscles lift heavier. Additionally, Pilates emphasizes body awareness, which translates directly into strength training, like cleaner squat form, more stable shoulders for bench presses and less compensating in general.

The two go hand in hand so you can have more powerful lifts.

Small group classes have been requested for years at our studio and we are offering them now! Small group classes are a fantastic way to get extra practice during the week, meet other Pilates and GYROTONIC® practitioners and get personal attention.

Classes are limited to four people and they are open to all levels! If you’re new to Urban Body San Jose, you must complete 3 private sessions before joining a small group class. Classes are $70 and you must register at least 24 hours in advance. Swipe through for the schedule (we even offer classes on the weekends). Our studio is more than just a place to take a class. It’s a community! We host small group classes, specialty workshops and many learning opportunities. Our instructors build relationships with our clients, and our Independent Workout community members build friendships. If you’re looking for a place to support your physical goals but also a warm and welcoming environment that feels like a movement sanctuary, come book a session with us!

We are hosting the fantastic Kathy Van Patten in June for a GYROTONIC® Apprentice Review. This review is part of the GYROTONIC® Foundation Course and is for GYROTONIC® Level 1 Apprentices who are ready to prepare for their GYROTONIC® Level 1 Final Certification. Kathy will be here to lead this review June 22-27 and Shannon will assist. Kathy has a deep knowledge of this work and she is an incredible instructor who has trained many of our own Team, so if you are a GYROTONIC® Apprentice in the Bay area, we invite you to join us! Join a small group class this week! We have recently begun offering Small Group Equipment classes throughout the week, including the weekend. These classes are capped at 4 people so you still get a semi-private experience with lots of attention! It’s $70 for a class and you must register at least 24 hours in advance. If you are new to our studio, it is required you complete 3-5 private sessions before joining a small group class.
