Our 2026 camp counselors came together for their annual training to prepare for the season ahead — learning, team-building, and getting ready to create a safe, fun, and welcoming camp experience for kids across Silicon Valley.

Leaders in Training (LIT) will give you:
• Hands-on job experience for teens (ages 12-15) under camp staff supervision.
• Leadership development focused on skills, responsibilities, and behavior.
• Training includes working with campers (ages 5-11), assist with camp groups, songs, games, and crafts.
• Certifications: CPR and First Aid.
• Opportunities: YMCA summer volunteer, in-person camp training.
• Community service hours that can be earned for school.

At our Heritage Club Luncheon on May 13, longtime YMCA of Silicon Valley supporter Diane Chinchen was honored for 45 years of hosting events alongside her husband, Stan, and helping build a strong, welcoming Heritage Club community.

Presented by former President and CEO Dave Thornton, this recognition celebrates Diane’s unwavering commitment, loving generosity, and lasting impact on the Y.

Thank you, Diane, for helping create a legacy that will continue strengthening our community for generations to come.
